QUESTIONS: What is the benchmark criteria bug reports need to achieve in order to be granted "Under Investigation" status? Vote amount clearly isn't a factor, since some bug reports with 2 votes or less are granted "Under Investigation" status.
Voting was heavily encouraged by EA in a recent blog post (mentioned 18x in this article), but clearly there is a hidden criterion behind-the-scenes that determines which bugs are prioritized...
- Do bugs from newer packs take priority?
- Does the bug report get less priority if the pack didn't perform well that fiscal quarter/year?
- And why do GPs and SPs seem to get even less priority (bugs remaining longer/indefinitely)?
I want EA to be more transparent about why certain bugs with fewer votes are prioritized over bug reports with more votes. Feels like they are hiding something, and I want to know more about what is going on behind-the-scenes 🤔
...because clearly we are being told one thing in a blog post, while the reality here in the forums is something entirely different. Besides, with no more livestreams of future packs, you have to give the fans something! Any insight you are willing to offer would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!💚
Edit by me on 09/26/2025: I stand corrected; immediately after making this post... Sims announced a livestream for AA. Thank you, any transparency is appreciated!
The lack of transparency and confusion regarding bug report status changes still has to be addressed. We would love to learn more about the criteria you use when prioritizing bug fixes. Thanks again for your time and consideration!💚

crinrict - Thanks for (re)moving my comment from the Horse Pronouns Report, now that it's being investigated... but none of these FAQs answer my original questions.
I would love a public statement from Sims Direct about how upvoting isn't the key factor (even though we were told it was) and transparency about what the hidden criteria is for prioritizing bug fixes/reports. Thanks! 💚

I can't really answer your questions as I don't work for EA but I think I can state some of the more obvious reasons (the way I see it from a personal perspective)
There's a lot of factors that influence what is being looked at which can range from reports elsewhere to old reports in the bug archive to issues that are really severe.
Under investigation also doesn't mean they will be fixed in November. The November patch is supposed to fix the most upvoted issues but this doesn't mean that they don't look into other issues as well. Maybe if it's an easy fix, why not fix it ? Think we all need to wait for that November patch and see what it brings and take it from there. Take the win that they are even communicating this. This is so much more than we ever had, believe me, I've been doing this since 2009.
Also be aware that statuses here aren't always up-to-date to what they are to Maxis. I set the statuses from the info I get from a CM which is always a bit behind on the actual status. So if you see Review/Awaiting more reports with lots of upvotes, those are probably being looked into as well, it just hasn't reached me yet to update. Currently there's a lot going on for everyone so let's see where the journey takes us all.
