Ideas
Hi everyone,
it's that time of the year again which means, that things will probably pick up while fewer people will be available to help.
Personally I won't have much time on the 24th and the 26th but I'll do my best to keep up on the other days but depending on traffic, there might be stuff I can't handle.
As you may have noticed, there are certain things I'm not handling anymore at all for various reasons so if your report stays on [NEW] for an extended time, do not worry. They will be picked up by a CM but it may take longer. You should still be able to comment and upvote these threads.
Please also make sure to keep up with what you report. If your report is on [TROUBLESHOOT] or [INCOMPLETE], please make sure to provide the information asked. If you have an issue that is on such a state, please do post too instead of just upvoting. It doesn't really matter who provides the info as long as someone does.
Before making a report, do check the compiled list first (will update it after Christmas) and the most popular issues to see if it hasn't been already reported. It helps a lot if there's fewer threads to check/merge.
A word on [DUPLICATES]: The status is only temporary now and is there to speed up the process to go through all new reports. Your thread will be merged later on. Sometimes it's unclear which issue you have as there are multiple similar threads so do check if there are any questions on duplicates so your post can be merged with the correct one. You don't need to DM about it. Just check back in a couple days to see which thread your post was merged with and upvote. There can also be delays with this over the holidays.
When making a report, make sure to include the following information. This helps to keep the back and forth to a minimum and gets your report to the [REVIEW] faster.
- Add tags to the title for the pack you are reporting for. You can find a full list of all tags used here: General Information About The Bug Reports Forum | EA Forums - 4965007
- Please use thread tags. You can find more info on them here: General Information About The Bug Reports Forum | EA Forums - 4965007. Your platform and mod usage are vital information.
- Give as much info as possible without being lengthy. Try to include relevant information. What are you seeing, do you have repro-steps, any error messages you're getting, tool-tips for greyed out options are also most helpful, etc.
- Include pics if you can. Visuals are great.
- Include any LastException files that occur in connection with the issue you are seeing. You can't upload them so please either upload them to a third party site such as googleDrive or OneDrive and link (make sure the link is public) if they are big. You can also just open the file with any file editor and copy/paste the content to your report. Do use spoiler tags for them (only works in the first post)
- Include any LastCrash files that you have if your game crashes. I can't read them but they help Maxis narrow down your issue. You also can't attach them so upload them to a third party site such as googleDrive or OneDrive and link (make sure the link is public)
- Because of the Show More, information not in the first post tends to get lost. If you have something to add, it's best if you edit your first post and add the info there. You can edit your post by clicking on the cogwheel in the upper right corner of the screen (far off from your actual post). I'm taking the liberty to also add info there myself if someone else posts interesting. These notes are usually clearly marked as added by me (or a CM).
Wishing everyone very happy Holidays.
