Removing ground level floors

Removing ground level floors seems to be buggy. I can remove the floor, but it doesn't actually remove the floor, but it...does. Light still passes through as though it were not there. The attached video shows me removing the floor around a staircase. The stairs don't get deleted and the light from above can be seen in the basement which is an enclosed room with no lights. The basement room's ceiling has been removed, but that's immaterial because it does it either way.

PlayStation 5.

Game version 2.11.

Expansions and kits: Backyard Stuff, Cats & Dogs, Get Together, My First Pet Stuff, Little Campers Kit, Castle Estate Kit, Vampires.

There's a workaround, by the way. If you place a wall somewhere else and move it into place, the floor will stay removed.

  • egingell_1  What you are trying to do is possible.  But this is one of those "the order in which you do things is important" type of things.   To get the open stairwell you want, you have to build a couple of temporary walls in the basement around the stair area, then the same above.  Place a fence across the area where you want the stair to land up top.  Delete the upper-level floor so it shows the ground.  Delete the ceiling in the room below to get rid of the ground above.  Then place the stair.  The section across the stair landing will self-delete.  Delete the extra walls below.  In the end, you should end up looking something like this.

    Hope this helps.

CGrant56 I'm aware of how to do it. The problem is that it wasn't working or rather it was except with the visual effect of the ground still being present.

  • egingell_1  In your video, what I saw was that you were deleting the floor in the open area after the stairs were in place, not before placing them.  When I tried that, it deleted the entire floor in the room including the stair landing and area on both sides of the fence.  I didn't get the ground staying like you showed.  This issue hasn't been reported by anyone else nor have I seen any other reports with anything similar.  So, that means the issue is unique to your save or game.  So, a couple of things you can try.

If you haven't already done it, try a repair.

And if you are using mods and CC, particularly any mods that affect or used exclusively in build mode like T.O.O.L, try building in a vanilla save without your mods and CC to see if it still happens.  Don't just turn them off, move the mods folder out to test.  I did my test build in my main save with mods and CC active, but I use no mods that affect build and very little build/buy CC.  Also, make sure that testingcheats and MOO are off when you try.

    Hope this helps.

JonaO703 You say that was on the PS5? I don't recognize those controls in the top right (the up/down button specifically). Does it change if you have a mouse plugged in? (Edit: it does).

I'm modifying an pre-built room ("Styled room") called "Geek Bedroom". The lot is in Windenburg. I've renamed it and I don't remember the original name, but it's the biggest lot on the southwest island. I named it "Von-Hindenburg Estate". Many of the rooms in that lot are detached, but they're still connected via underground tunnels.
