Updated last night to the new May 12th patch on PS4, no mods possible. It was in the bug fix report that,
"It was possible for Sims to get stuck in a state where their Scandal and Scandal VFX would not go away. This happened when a Scandal was revealed or discovered in a different game session than when the Scandal ended. This is fixed so that the bug will no longer occur in fresh instances, but we also did an additional fix to ensure that if it was happening in a save already, that it will now remove the scandal VFX that was there and fix it in those instances as well. We aren't aware of other instances of this occurring (and this fix will likely fix it for everyone), but if it is not fixed in your save, please report it so we can investigate those instances as well."
My faerie got a scandal yesterday pre-patch. It is now up to 80 days still, post-patch. After making a SUCCESSFUL apology via computer, the timer jumped to 318 days. So pre-patch acquired scandals are not working properly, I cannot say for post-patch acquired.
Edit By crinrict: Adjusted Title to keep this to pre-patch scandals for now. Might need further adjustments if it occurs for new scandals still.
EDIT: added a post-patch scandal, my werewolf made a successful debial statement and the timer jumped to 27 days.
