[RL] Secret Lovers automatically become Partners when a sim dies

Happened in my game again. No sims died, I just loaded in. 

I went out, to try without mods and the same thing happened. So it's 100% sure not mods. 

Having this happen removes the Secret Lover feature entirely but you can use cheats + MCCC to add the Secret Lover back in "Relationship Bit". Troublesome. 

Welcome. Happy to help get this bug fixed, since I want to use the Secret Lover feature for R&L. Will report any further tests or encounters with the bug in this thread. Let me know if you need anymore testing.

I have not been able to replicate this bug without triggering a death event. Entering CAS / Loading into lots has not triggered it the same way the Spouse -> Partner bug does. 

The first time I encountered this bug, I did not notice any deaths however. But I might just not have noticed it.

Hello, I went in my game and did some testing. YES, it seems that it is related. The sim does not even have to be in the family tree. 

I was able to make a clean reproduction in both modded and unmodded games, using a different save file. 

I first added the NPC "Freya" into the family and used cheats to kill her. The Secret Lover relationship turns into Partners once Grim completes the death and the urn appears.

 I recreated the death without adding Freya to the family. She died as an unrelated townie, and the same glitch occurred. Secret Lover turned into partner.

So, yes, this bug can happen even if the deceased sim is completely unrelated to both lovers, not part of the active household; is simply a random townie. 

The game seems to refresh relationship data upon a Sims' death and Secret Lover is incorrectly rebuilt as Partner. 

The only thing I didn't get to test is if this bug occurs if my sims has witnessed it or not. But when I first encountered the bug, there was no death being witnessed. I can try to recreate that too, if that would help. I guess I'll make him stand very very far so he does not "witness" it. 

PS. The Spouse turning into partners happens to me too, when I enter CAS. HOWEVER, entering CAS does not turn Secret Lovers into Partners in this game file.  I could not recreate that bug with Secret Lovers, it only happened with Spouses, at least in this game file.

Just wondering if it's the same as the thread I linked.

Maybe it's even if just any Sim in the family tree dies ?

Hello, crinrict​  thank you for getting back to me. Hm... Do you mean if a sim died during gameplay and this bug happened? If so, I don't recall. I don't think so. The first instance of this bug happening, my sim was the lone sim in the household. 

I'll make several tests later when I return home from work and get back to you.

Entering and exiting CAS or loading into a game removes Secret Lover relationship from replaces it with Partner/Dating/Boyfriend&Girlfriend status. 

I first encountered this bug while playing with mods. So, I initially thought it was a mod problem. Specifically, EPO Mod 1: Family Preferences. I got the option to change my Sims' Preferences from "Not Wanting Kids" -> "Happy to have kids". When I clicked agree to the change, both of my Sims' Secret Lovers became Partners. I got the notification pop-up right after. They still have the sentiment but the "Secret Lovers" relationship tag is changed to Partners. You cannot ask to be Secret Lovers again without cheats/mods. It removes the interaction. 

However, I encountered a similar issue with my married sims. I raised this concern in the this bug thread. With the married couple, after entering CAS (with cas.fulleditmode), made some adjustment to their traits, and returning to Live Mode, I got a pop-up that so-and-so became the girlfriend/partner of my sim. They just got married the day before. You have to re-enter CAS and manually set the relationship to Married to fix the bug. 

I encountered the bug a THIRD time with Secretlovers again. This time, I entered CAS without cas.fulleditmode and without adjusting anything on my Sim (Simply entering and exiting), and my Secret Lovers (My Sim had two) were all changed to girlfriend. I got a pop-up (so-and-so became My Sim's partners etc.). 

The issue is not limited to only CAS or Traits changing. It happens upon loading into a game too. I was testing WITHOUT mods and it did not take me long to re-encounter the bug. 

First, I removed my mods and tested the game unmodded. As soon as I loaded into the game, this happened: 

• My Sims spouse remained married (good) 
• My Sims' Secret Lover became a  partner. I received a pop-up of the relationship change.
• My Sims' high romance (but not Girlfriend) also became a partner. They were NOT in any form of relationship. I received a pop-up as well. 

Then, I put my mods back in. Loaded the game up and the exact same sequence of circumstances happened. Secret Lover and Romanced Sim both became Partners. 

The last relationship change is of note, since they just had a high romantic bar and I did not make them official/committed partners or secret lovers anymore. But the glitch set the relationship to "Partner" automatically.
