[ROM] [ENB] Can't cure curse when Sim also has an ailment

My sim is a spellcaster and has a curse, but also an ailment. I used the decursify spell on him and got the message saying that decursify does not cure ailments, but it also did not cure his curse. Surely it should work on the curse from realm of magic even if he has an ailment?

Even if the rules here are cure ailments before curses, I feel that should either be made clear somehow or a realm of magic spell should always target real of magic curses first.

It worked on the curse after removing the ailment (which are way too frequent btw, because in the time it took to recharge decursify I got another one).

My sim got a magical curse from RoM (Curse of Unwarranted Hostility). Normally, these curses are removed with the Potion of Curse Cleansing made in a RoM cauldron. However, since I installed EbN, when drinking the potion I get a notification that despite his best effort, the potion didn't remove his ailment and the RoM curse is still there.

After trying different things. My sim DID have an ailment. Curing the ailment allowed me to then drink ANOTHER potion and cure my curse.

So if you have a curse and an ailment, drinking the potion doesn't cleanse the curse anymore.

  • Could you please provide the following information

    -  Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.
    -  What platform are you playing ?

Yes, sorry I should have added that in the post. I am on PC.
I removed all my mods and tested the same thing again them with the same result. Using decursify spell does not remove curse, you get a pop up saying you cannot cure ailments with decursify and the curse remains.

  • Same problem - spellcater sim has both an ailment and a curse. Tried both the spell "Decursify" as well as the "Potion of Curse Cleansing".  Neither of these worked, my sim still has the curse and I got a notification twice (once after the potion, once after the spell) stating that "Despite her best efforts, Mabel's Ailment doesn't respond to Spellcaster magic at all! She'll have to find another way. Perhaps the answer lies with the Apothecary Skill?"

I don't have cc/mods (they are disabled in the settings, never used in the current savefile). I am playing on a laptop with Windows 11. I believe it would be easy to recreate with any save, as long as a spellcaster sim has both an ailment and a curse simultaneously - there is no way to cure the curse first, it must be the ailment first and the curse second.

In my save it was the "Luck Magnet" ailment with the "Uncleansable Stench" curse, but from other comments it seems to appear with any combination of curses and ailments.
