I've been having gnome issues as well. But, not at my sims home. They have invaded the high school and making every student and faculty miserable. There is trash everywhere, all the sinks are broken and spread puddles. Everyone is stomping around, angry. The janitor also don't repair the sinks, but keeps cleaning them, and he doesn't mop puddle or collect trash.
After a few days of this nonsense, I just cheated (destroyed) them away.
