This has now happened to me and it also seems to glitch out some of the affected items, eg. my sim could not repair the broken fridge as they just kept repairing and repairing it and there was no progress and it never ever repaired. Also, the stove was broken and made dirty - my sim managed to repair the stove but no matter how long they clean it for, it never ever becomes clean.
Playing on PC, no mods or CC, all packs except 2 kits installed.
No Lot traits assigned. Nobody has any ailments but my one sim is in the Naturopath career (it did not happen whilst a sick sim was on the lot).
