Screenshot causes game crash/freeze

After the recent updates on PC The sims 4 19th August 2025 

For POV sreenshot (left Tab Key  +Shift key ) left side keybored

Bug crashes game and PC  Now its happening with normal screenshot by just pressing "C"

The only way at this moment (left Tab Key) then the C button Temp Fix

This Bug needs sorting or it will corrupt and break thousands of PC worldwide

Hi This is Dinky 21b I am having the same problem too this happen straight after the update this has nothing to do with graphics

This happend within 5 mins after the update it's fresh and EA know it

Temp fix when playing left Tab Key then press the "C"  button for now it will have to do until they will fix it I have reported it  with a case number ? just a waiting game now but be warned crashing like can harm the PC

After the latest update, it is impossible to play or take screenshots during the game. At any time, when pressing the C key, the game freezes and displays a white screen. This can happen at any time. It happened to me both on the first attempt to take a screenshot, and after 200 already taken. In the last hour, the game crashed 5 times, and each time after pressing the C key.

It happened again, so here is my dxdiag. I'll also try the fix that worked for skyegal23

LadyDarkSorrow​  Yes, a dxdiag would be useful as a reference.  I asked around a bit and have merged the thread where you posted into a bug report about what looks to be the same underlying issue.  (The title is a bit narrow right now, but that may change.)  The hardware involved here is kind of all over the map, so more information may be helpful.

EA_Solaire has also asked for affected saves earlier in this thread, if you're willing to share.

Dinky21b​  As mentioned originally, it would be helpful to have a dxdiag from your computer.  EA_Solaire is also looking for saves, as above.

0zggd0fggmre​  It would be great to have a dxdiag from you as well, and a save if you're willing to share one.  Instructions are linked above.

dabrat2255​  Please update your Nvidia graphics driver to the version that came out a couple days ago.  The one you have was implicated in several issues, and your dxdiag lists some crashes of the driver.  This is regardless of whether DX9 mode helps.  A save would be appreciated too.

puzzlezaddict​ I’ll keep this in mind. I downloaded it but while installing it said my computer ran into a problem and restarted. I see a friend on Sunday who is more tech-savvy than me so I’ll explain the issue to them. I’m just a bit worried if I touch anything I’ll break more lol.

I haven’t switched to DX9 yet but I’m not in much of a hurry to play, so I’ll test that if installing the new graphics driver doesn’t work.

Dinky21b​ Thought it could be related to the update. Although I will say, about the fix, screenshots in tab have been causing problems too. Maybe that’s just on my end.

puzzlezaddict​  here the dx9 when i switch dx11 to dx9 then load game and crash, 2nd try game load and took 75 screenshots without problems

also in the log right under the dx9 crash there was another crash where i went into cas a few times and game crash when i was leaving

I have the exact same problem, the game freezes, I try to go back to my desktop and the whole screen goes white, forcing me to shut down my device.
