I am on a PC Laptop-
I have been having the same issue with the shiny grid texture appearing on the icon of my sim in the bottom left corner. I had thought it was the new skin texture option (although I hadn't applied it to my Sims) or perhaps an illness that wasn't loading correctly with the new Fairy Game Pack. However, when I tried to heal my Sim, the game indicated they were not ill. This only started occurring after a recent update and when I downloaded the new game pack.
I just removed the new nails, and the grid has disappeared. There must be something wrong with the nails specifically.
