Since downloading the latest update, my sims can only order books that they already own. This is true whether I go through their bookcases or their computer.
I'm playing on Mac, if that makes a difference! I have some expansion packs but no mods or cc.
I did not see this issue addressed in any of the currently active bug reports, but apologies if I've missed something!
The exact same thing is happening to me. One day, when I launch the game, I can use the "Purchase Books" option, but there are only three categories available, and the only skill book is Handiness. The next day, I launch the game again, and I can't even purchase books anymore.
I went to buy the 3 volumes of Research and Debate and I tried to purchase them thru the bookcase at first and went to drop down the menu to the skills filter and there were only 4 skill books available. Also, only books that were previously purchased were available. I tried to delete the bookcases and repurchase them, repair the game, clear the cache, delete the UI files, start a new game, recover/restart the app, and the problem still persists. I don’t have any pictures and I also don’t know how long this has been an issue, I only noticed this a couple hours ago. I deleted any lots that I downloaded, from the gallery and like I stated before I’ve restarted the game/app/laptop many many times. I don’t use mods so that can’t be the issue but is there anything else I can do to try and fix this issue???
I am experiencing the same issue.
I cannot buy skill books from the computer/bookcase, and I cannot buy upgrade parts for object upgrades. The game does not show or recognize these items correctly. I also have an issue with fairy pollen: the game says there is not enough pollen even when my fairy has plenty of it, so the game is not detecting the resource.
I have no mods or custom content installed. I deleted my old saves, tested with a completely new save, removed my Sims 4 folder, repaired the game, and finally reinstalled The Sims 4 with all 54 of my officially purchased expansions, game packs, and stuff packs through EA App. The problem is still there.
I am playing on Mac through EA App. My game version is 1.125.59.1230.
The issue started after the July 9, 2026 update. It happens in new saves as well, so it is not related to a specific household or save file.

So after uninstalling the Bridgerton kits I am now able to order books through the bookshelf and computer. It looks to have all the books now and the previous order selections that were missing from the computer(like upgrade parts) is back.
Now that I have an idea of what caused this should I avoid redownloading my kits? Or should I try redownloading them and see if reinstalling them will bring the issue back or see if it's fixed?
You can just disable them through the marketplace.
So I uninstalled all the kits the Marketplace would let me uninstall(everything except the bridgerton one which I got as a collection) and am still unable to order books through the bookshelf or computer. I'm going to try restarting after removing the bridgerton one and see if that helps.
Yes I have bought several kits. Should I uninstall them and see if any of them are causing the issue?

By add-ons I mean expansions, stuff packs, game packs and the kits. I have all the expansions, stuff packs and game packs and a lot of the official kits.
