Sims children who die don't become ghosts

Repost from Game Issues: Sims children who die dont become ghosts | EA Forums - 8585164

I had two twin sim children who perished in a fire. They were reaped by the reaper and the pop up option came up to choose if they will become playable or freeroaming ghosts. When I selected playable ghost, their urns appeared but they just respawned, alive. Family tree does not say deceased, needs are not changed to ghost needs. I restarted, let them perish in the fire again and chose freeroaming ghosts this time. They vanished from the household, still alive, but with no urns this time. They are still alive and are aging up outside of my household.

  • I'm also having the same problem.  I have seasons and my child sim died due to extreme heat, the Grim Reaper reaped her along with her mom but when I click to her mom's urn, I can plan a funeral but not with her urn.  I invited her to my lot, and she just appears as normal, not in her ghost form but when I shift click to edit her, I can't edit in CAS since the game says I can't do it while the sim is dying.

  • VIa savescamming I forced whispering wishing well to produce a child ghost when wishing for a child. And the spawned child was perfectly alive. I then entered CAS full edit mode and chose the cause of death manually, which transformed the child into a ghost.

I wonder if it's not possible for children to become ghosts naturally in the current version of the game (aside from Edith).
