Sims stop cooking

Does it happen at a specific step ? Did you test multiple households/save games to see if it's a problem with your kitchen ?

I started a new save and I don't seem to be having that issue anymore.

When I  pick a dish for my Sim to cook, they start preparing it, but then stop and it acts like something is blocking the way. I have tried using different Sims,  I have moved the dish to a different counter,  I have saved and restarted my laptop ( I play on Steam).  I don't know how to fix it if I'm able to and I'm beyond frustrated. Also, I have seen where a few others have also had this issue, but can't find how it was resolved (if so).  Please Help!

Running the Proud Parent Scenario with a ghost who had to adopt a baby to run the scenario.

Sim repeatedly tried to make a birthday cake for the baby's birthday into toddlerhood, but the Sim would stop after mixing in the bowl, but would not go further. I was going to try in the morning, but the Sim had to go to a noontime audition. After a third attempt to bake the cake, it's now past midnight with the baby sleeping.

Was hoping to help feed a cake slice to the baby before aging up to the next life stage.

I’m extremely frustrated with The Sims 4 at this point. I’ve been dealing with the infamous cooking bug that has been reported for over 4 years now
The issue where a Sim picks up the cutting board, places it back down over and over again, and never completes the cooking action is still in the game, even on pre-made EA lots that haven’t been edited. It’s completely unacceptable that such a fundamental mechanic like cooking is still broken after all this time. It’s not just a small inconvenience — it literally makes the game unplayable.
I can’t cook. My Sim starts cooking at 8 PM and finishes (if I’m lucky) at 3 AM because they get stuck in an endless loop. This ruins their needs, sleep schedule, and completely destroys the gameplay experience. To get my Sim to actually cook, I have to basically wall them in, fill the kitchen with counters, and mash the interaction button repeatedly until they finally finish.
This is ridiculous and ruins immersion and fun.

I’ve tried everything:
Moving and replacing counters
Clearing objects
Resetting Sims
Changing lots
Restarting the console

Nothing works. The fact that this is happening on EA-built homes (not modified by me) makes it even worse.

I am honestly tired of fighting with the game instead of enjoying it.

Please, I’m asking you fix this bug. It’s been FOUR YEARS.

It’s unacceptable to keep adding new content and expansions without fixing such a core problem that affects the base game experience.

Console players deserve a stable game too.
