Sims who have been best friends/enemies remain as acquaintances

As this has been reported in the past, you don't need to remove your mods/cc for this one but for the future, make sure to remove your whole mods folder and test on a non modded game before reporting something. Also delete the localthumbcache file

Is this thread still ongoing? Because I have the problem of stuck acquaintances. My couple have been romancing with each other for quite a while. I wondered why they kept showing apology options and struggling to get an option to woohoo and then noticed that they were not marked as partners. Today they got engaged - it shows it in CAS and in their opened panels, but in the relationship panel at bottom right and when they are talking to each other it still shows them as acquaintances. My game is fully updated, no mods or cc whatsoever and I have almost all packs (a couple of kits missing). I'm on PC and have deleted the local thumb cache file with no difference.

My sim has a boyfriend, who she's best friends with, but their relationship is still only acquaintances. 

It has happened about 3 times now in the past week. The first instance, a Sim had maxed the friendship and the romance metre with their partner, however they were still listed as acquaintances in the relationship panel, meaning that I couldn't progress in the Soulmate Aspiration. In the other 2 instances that happened today, my Sim did a series of mean interactions and then fought with another, which would usually lead to them despising eachother, but they were instead listed as acquaintances. The same occurred a few minutes later whenever my Sim did a series of mischief interactions with a Sim and despite being beyond the threshold to be disliked, they were still an acquaintance. The odd thing is that it doesn't happen every time, as my Sim has had people dislike her today. This is limiting her progression in the Criminal aspiration. I noticed all of this as a bug on 8th of July 2025 at 22.30. I play on Xbox. Even if I restart the console or restart the game, the bug still remains. I have no mods or CC and play base game only.

Sims are stuck with the acquaintance relationship tag even with a full bar of friendship and romance.

The game marks as acquaintances even though we were best friends and had a romantic interest. my sim had an awkward conversation and the romance/friendship bar decreased just by a little bit. since after this, the game has mark this specific sim an acquaintance even tho we were best friends before. all of my other sims friends in the relationship panel all shows correctly as friends, best friends, acquaintances, good friends, etc. look at the friendship bar, its full, and the romantic bar is halfway, tho the game still calls it as acquaintance
