I had the same bug. A child completed the aspiration after the update, and did not check off on the parent.

No, but it wasn't part of the patch notes so I doubt it's fixed. Feel free to check tho.

Was this comment made after the update went live?

What I know it still isn't fixed

Has this been fixed? My daughter just completed the creative aspiration and the dad's "have a child complete an aspiration" did not check off.

hi! i was hoping i could find out how to submit a ticket to them to get this solved faster, i’ve never tried to before so i guess this is what i’m supposed to do?
anyway, so my sim is currently trying to complete the Successful Lineage aspiration. i am having issues with two of the tasks not showing up as complete. one being “Have a Child Complete an Aspiration,” which I have already had her child complete 2 and neither times did it mark off as completed.
the other being “Have a Child or Grandchild Reach the Top of a Career,” and her son that has grown into a young adult is at the top of his career. that is not marked as completed either.
hope i can get some help, i am trying to have my sim complete all the aspirations so this is a big speed bump in the course. thanks for reading!!!

I am having this issue too. I have had several children finish their aspirations (one of the basic four) then so far even had one complete two full aspirations (social and physical/motor) and it still didn't count. I don't own many packs- just dogs and cats, first pet, horse ranch, and cottage living as well as the kits for backyard stuff and blooming rooms (not sure the exact name, I apologize). My sim is upset I am not completing her aspiration and gets sad, but the hard work to make sure her kids complete their childhood aspiration isn't counting. (photos provided of youngest daughter, Alysha, completing her aspiration while her mother, Arya, still has her's not completed). If you've been able to figure it out, I would be willing to have Arya adopt another baby or even have another child herself.

I am having this issue for months now. Family legacy is the only base game aspiration I can’t complete.

[SOLUTION]
After racking my brain for days, maybe even weeks I have a "terrible solution" for this bug.(QUICK OVERVIEW)
The "solution" is to "cheat" the aspiration (only possible way, while it is bugged) then to save your sim to the gallery, then re-upload the sim into your save file via the gallery.
This will grant the step as complete, (and award the trait as needed for this specific aspiration) and will also include the check-mark and yellow boarder and show as properly completed.(Note: If this "method/solution" is being used for different steps in an aspiration, the trait will not be rewarded if the cheated step isn't among the final steps of an aspiration. If you want the trait, and the step you are using to cheat through isn't the final, you will need to re-enter the command "aspirations.complete_current_milestone" until the aspiration is fully complete, prior to saving it to the gallery.)
(WARNING)
(Please read the above before starting these steps to ensure you understand the situation before executing the steps.)
(WARNING)
1.) Press Ctrl+Shift+C
(This will enable cheats.)
2.) Type: aspirations.complete_current_milestone
(This will complete the step.)
(NOTE: It may be possible to skip the following steps, and just save your game, delete the "onlinethumbnailcache" folder and "localthumbcache.package" in the Sims 4 Folder, > Repairing your game, then simply reloading your file.)
3.) Click a mirror > "Change Sim"
(This will enter CAS/Create a Sim)
4.) Save Sim to your gallery.
5.) Delete the existing sim (WARNING)
(This will cause you to lose all relationships, your inventory, and everything else that isn't saved to the gallery.)
6.) Create the Sim via the gallery saved previously.
(Add back their inventory/relationships or rebuild everything as needed.)
7.) Result: Sim will have completed the step, and the UI/Menu will show it as completed as well.
(Additional Note: If you wish not to have "cheats enabled" in your current save, you can save the sim to your gallery, perform the steps in a different save, and then re-add them back after from the other save into your "main" save as needed.)
This is a terrible "Solution" but it is the only way to work around this bug while we wait for the Sims team to ever get around to it.Here is an image showing the aspiration complete, as well as marked properly in the Menu/UI after having used cheats, and using the method as mentioned above.

After the November 4th 2025 update, this bug still persists.
It is unfortunate of the Sims 4 team to fix minor issues such as inherited features, but ignore game breaking bugs such as this one.
My game save is still unplayable.
