Time/Sim freezes while environment still moves

OK I'm placing this in a separate comment because I'VE FOUND THE FIX. Obviously, this may only be the fix for me personally, but this may help others too.

It's the Life and Death pack. I disabled it using Mod Manager and my game now no longer freezes. So if you have the Life and Death pack, disabling it is worth a try. I'm sad that I can't play with Life and Death anymore though. :(
