Same issue here. I had it several time over the past year. It started around the relise of the life and death expansion, but I'm not sure if it happened before or after. I have all the packs. It happened on almost all my saves since, some with 0 mods or CC, some with a lot of those. I mostly play legacies, and wandered if its not the accumulation of played sims -even tho I mark them as unplayed as soon as i change the generation, but still, they still accumulate info in the save like their millstones, dynamics, etc- that create the issue. To limitate the problem, I turned off the Neighborhood Stories System or most of it for some saves, and always limit the sims to 80 instead of 150. It actually helped delayed the freezing, but it's still happening. I also turned off the For Rent expansion when we were given this option, it delayed the issue but it's still happening. I also noted like the person who first reported this that once my game is going to freeze, the computer starts to use up a lot of the resources. I always clean my files, and regulary repare the game.
I must had that once the freeze happen, you can't save your game. For me, all househould are affected once the game freezed once. When restarting it, I tried to change the with witch family and house I was playing, even created a new one, but still, if the game freezed at 4h18, in game, in the original family, it will freeze at 4h18 in a new one. Even if I mark the original one as not played, and if I put the new one on an empty lot. I then tried -without hope- to skip time just in case with IU cheats, but it still freeze.
I usually keep a copy of my save, so I've also been able to see that if i restart from a while before the save is corrupted, I can sometimes go further with the save. Meaning sometimes it crashes second generation, sometimes 4th. But it still ends up freezing.
To be honest, it's an awful experience, because you end up limitating everything you do in game just to because you know the more you use the possibilities of the game the sooner the freeze. When you use of the sims 4 is legacy, creating a long run story, it kind of kill the experience of the game.
Seeing the comments, I saved the DxDiag from my last save, but know it also happened to me while playing on an other computer -so both on laptop desktop- from a friend account who also had all packs.
