Time/Sim freezes while environment still moves

Every time I try load play this game, I can play about 3 hours (in game time) before the game clock freezes and I can no longer click on or interact with any sims. The sims essentially infinitely preform the animation they were doing before the game freezes (e.g. eating). I can't open up the phone, click on any object, switch between sims. I can open the game menu, and the simology/needs/etc tabs. If I try and exit the game in any way, it'll load infinitely, and I have to restart my computer in order to close the sims tab. I also can't go to the main menu or save my game without the same issue occuring. This happens in every single save file I try.
