There is currently an issue in MCCC that is causing a freezing like this if you have auto-marriages turned on.

dr0pdeadappleb0y Thanks for the info. I also hear from players whose fans ramp up at the same time as issues with the graphics card or driver (like the driver crashes), so it's not necessarily that the game itself is getting more demanding. That's another reason to update the AMD driver, just in case it's somehow contributing to the error.
The "stopped working and was closed" error is not helpful here, as you've guessed.
