This keeps happening to me too, even with stuff placed in front of it. I put a coffee table in front of the murphy bed and they still put the bed down, right through the table.

They put the bed down, I tell them to put it back up, they do so, and then they put it right back down... I don't enjoy fighting with my sims on this level. They have a different bed, this isn't even a bed that's assigned to them.
