I tried getting my Sim to feed my toddler sims and they just won't eat!

Everytime a child sim of mine has gone out with the parents to eat at a restaurant and then they return home, the child sim won't eat anything despite being hungry. The child will grab a plate, sit down at a table and the action will be shown as active in the que, but the child won't eat at all. Resetting the sim doesn't work. Only thing that works is loading into a different household and then loading back to the original one.
