I’m going to be so honest, this is making me so mad. I’ve already claimed items for the event, but one day, I go to claim them so I can progress, and it gives me a message: “INTERNET CONNECTION IS REQUIRED Please go online to save your Event progress and receive awards.” I’ve checked my internet connection several times, and restarted the game several times over different days, and it still says this. This is extra ridiculous because the sims 4 is an online game, so I wouldn’t even be able to open the game if I was offline! I’m able to play the game like normal, it just won’t let me receive the event rewards.
I was having the same issue, for weeks now. I fixed it today! I play on Xbox, so the specifics might be a little different, but this is what I did:
- Go into game options in-game, make sure your EA account is connected. I had to accept a new user agreement. Game restarted.
- Still wasn't working, so I went online to ea.com and signed into the website with my Xbox account info.
- Restarted my Xbox, force quit TS4, then opened it again. Now I can claim my items!!

This is the fix! On the PS5 I had to click a link from the Sims 4 Home Screen like “Learn More” on any of the updates. It would ask if I wanted to open a window online and you go to EA.com. I logged into EA from that window and when I loaded the family I wanted to play, I was still logged in.
