[XB/PS] Can't press X to start

When I launch the sims 4 on my ps4 my X button doesn't work when it loads to the "press x to play" screen. There is absolutely nothing wrong withy controller as I need to press x to load into my ps profile and to launch the sims application. I have tried every known fix suggested on this forum and online and nothing works. My PSN profile is linked to my EA account. Everytime I have had this happen has been after a big update and the recent November 4th update has made this happen again. I had this problem three days ago and my console has been turned off and unplugged from the mains since then so I tried again today and still can't press X to play. I have tried to play four times since the Nov update and every time I can't get past the press X screen.
