[INFO REQUEST] Error Code: EC:10005 In EA app
For days now, I’ve been reaceiving this error code on my PC. I repaired the EA App, uninstalled and reinstalled it, checked my Norton firewall, reset my router, ran as Administrator and tried other fixes, but the error persists. This has never happened before, and it only affects the EA App—my Steam games run without issue. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM ASAP!!Solved1.3KViews10likes80CommentsPlaytest Website

This is a collective appeal on behalf of the many users who have, over the years, experienced the same recurring issue – and still have no solution. The problem is simple but severe: Players lose access to their EA account, and as a result, they are unable to unlink it from their Xbox profile. Without EA's help, they are permanently locked out of using EA services on Xbox. And EA Support has failed to provide effective assistance. We are not talking about isolated incidents. This is a widespread and years-old problem, affecting hundreds (if not thousands) of players. It continues to appear regularly in EA Forums, Reddit, Microsoft support threads, and gaming communities. It’s time to acknowledge that this is not a user mistake – this is a systemic failure in account management and support policy. The Problem Xbox profiles often become automatically linked to old EA accounts – sometimes accounts that are no longer accessible, deleted, or tied to an email that no longer exists. Players cannot unlink the Xbox profile from the EA account unless they verify the original EA account. If the user has no access to the email or recovery methods (due to age, lost credentials, or deactivated accounts), EA support refuses to help. Microsoft confirms they cannot unlink EA accounts on their end. EA's stance is rigid: “No verification, no unlinking.” Even if the account is clearly inactive or the user is verified through Xbox/Origin credentials. Support tickets are often closed without action. Chats end with no resolution. Users are passed between departments, but nothing changes. Recent Example (May 2025) Just yesterday, I posted the following here on EA’s forums, and it summarizes the problem: “I can't unlink my Xbox account from an old EA account that I don't have access to anymore. EA Support told me there’s nothing they can do. I just want to play EA games again, but I’m locked out of all online services because my Xbox is linked to a ghost account.” Full Post Here This is not a one-off. It is one of many. What Players Are Asking For We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for a realistic, user-focused solution to a well-known issue. Specifically: A process for unlinking Xbox accounts when the original EA account cannot be recovered. This could involve verifying identity via Xbox Live data, Xbox account ownership, or linking proof. Better support escalation paths. Not just canned responses and auto-closed tickets. Real human review for unresolved account access cases. Transparency on what can and cannot be done. Many users are told “there’s nothing we can do” – while others manage to get unlinking done after dozens of failed attempts. The policy is inconsistent. The Bigger Picture Many affected users have: Lost access to EA Play/Game Pass benefits despite paying for them. Abandoned EA games completely because the account issues make playing impossible. Created entirely new Xbox accounts, losing years of progress and purchases. Spent hours or days dealing with EA support without a single result. We are asking EA to take responsibility and implement system-level fixes. This is a trust issue. Players who lose access to their EA account should not be cut off from Xbox games they legally own or subscribe to. Supporting Evidence: Community Reports Date Source & Link Summary May 16, 2025 EA Forum User unable to unlink Xbox from old EA account; EA Support states "nothing we can do". April 2025 Microsoft Community Xbox Gamertag linked to an old/unknown EA account; EA will not unlink it, stating the account is deleted. April 2022 Microsoft Community EA refuses to unlink Xbox from deleted EA account; GDPR request ignored. February 2021 Reddit - r/Xbox EA demands code sent to inactive email; user locked out despite valid Xbox account. Early 2021 Microsoft Community User unable to unlink EA account; Microsoft confirms EA is sole authority. November 2018 Overclockers UK Forum Player locked to 10-year-old EA account; EA support unhelpful after multiple attempts. And many more... Final Call EA, this is a growing trust and accessibility issue. Gamers should not be permanently blocked from their Xbox content because of a policy that assumes email access is forever. Technology evolves. People change accounts. But support systems must evolve with that. We urge you to: Recognize this as a longstanding issue. Commit to a workable solution for affected users. Respond to the community with clarity and action. This isn’t just about one player. This is about hundreds of us, waiting for a fair resolution. EA - in the name of all gamers - please fix this! I have had an origin account for a little over 15 years, I started with The Sims 2 and just recent bought The Sims 4 High School years. I have not had access to my account for over a year. I have not gotten any real help with the issue. I am seriously thinking about seeking legal action I have spent over $500 dollars and years of gameplay and none of my issues have been resolved. This new platform is awful They have had so many bugs and issues, and the system has gotten worse instead of better.135Views3likes10CommentsEABackgroundService issues
When I close the app (with all settings turned off for background tasks happening) and with the launch mode of the EABackgroundService set to manual, the EAbackgroundService does not stop. Even if I go into the services and stop it myself, the service just restarts itself and keeps on running. There is no reason this should be happening. When I close the app, I want all processes related to the app to end. Including this EABackgroundService. Also has a side note, I want the option to close the app fully when hitting the X button. Steam doesn't have this option, and it is incredibly frustrating. Epic and Battle.net do and I appreciate them for that. Don't let this already pretty terrible game launcher fall behind in a very easy category they could get ahead in. Give me an option, so that when I click X, the application fully quits, and doesn't just minimize to my tray. Thanks.Connection Failed...
I'm trying to play Battlefront 2 but it wont connect to the EA servers... When I checked the EA app it says and I quote "We couldn't connect you to other players. If the problem persists, try restarting the app." Ive restarted the app, deleted and reinstalled it, did troubleshoot on my internet and on the app and even contacted EA support and everything was futile WORTHLESS. Ive been here for hours trying to connect and there's nothing solving this issue. Just to be clear I have a 990 mb/s internet speed (1 Gig/s) should be WAY MORE than enough to connect to the EA servers also, I downloaded a game and opened it but of course I couldn't even connect to the servers meaning I couldn't play online which makes absolutely no sense, I asked the support guy if I was shadow banned he said that there's no records of me being banned in any way and then said I had to wait for the concern team to solve the issue.Solved218Views3likes2CommentsEA App EC:10005 - Reocurring
So, I've had The Sims4 installed for years now, right? I have a Windows10 with 64-bit as an operating system, so that's not an issue. The last few months, EA hasn't been opening or letting me open it. Thus, I cannot play Sims4. Sims was giving me trouble at one point, and so i downloaded it through steam. Now here I am, complaining, as it's constantly giving me "EC:10005 networks not doing network thing. try again". Earlier today, I managed to get the Sims 4 open. I played for a while, then logged off to do Yard Work. When I came back, I tried to log back in, and it gave me this issue again. And before anyone tells me that this is my own Network problem... I have restarted my router, restarted my PC, adjusted the router, and unplugged my house's home phone not just from our router, but also overall. There's only an X-box also using internet at this point, and that's not an issue as it was being played on while I played The Sims 4 earlier. I've tried running ONLY EA, and it still gives me EC:10005. And when I try to just open TS4 from my home screen, it says "preparing game" and then tells me that the servers took too long and were "not doing server things". Any help or advice? - B101Views3likes4CommentsCannot unlink PSN (Playstation Network) from EA
Hi, I currently have two PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts linked to my EA account. However, I am unable to unlink either of them because the unlink button is not visible. The option to unlink appears for all other linked services, but not specifically for PlayStation. I have already contacted the EA support team, but they were unable to resolve the issue. They advised me to bring this matter to the EA forums instead. Could an EA admin please look into this for me? I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thanks in advance!
