Sims4 Freezing on Macbook after Jan 2025 Update
My Macbook, MacOS Monterey 12.7.6, keeps freezing every time I try to play. My EA/Origin app is working fine and all the loading screens go through so I can get to my save. However, after 2-5 seconds of play, the game completely freezes up and all I can do is "Force Quit". I have no mods or custom content. I do use cheats, like motherlode, moveobjects, ignoregameplay, etc., but that's all. I do own many game packs purchased and downloaded directly through the EA app. I have also tried repairing the game in the app, but this does nothing. Can't find a solid fix for this, if anyone has any ideas. I have seen some other people having similar problems since the update, but can't find a solution. Wondering if it's something about the update that EA needs to fix? I don't know, but I just want to play my game lol. All ideas welcome! Edit: I am able to create a new save and play that just fine, but when I try to go back to my original save, it just freezes. I don't want to lose all the progress of my old save, but I'm not sure what to do. Edit 2: I was able to play my new save for awhile, but now the game just crashes every time I open it. Gets stuck on the initial loading screen and doesn't even reach the main menu. *crying*2.8KViews8likes5CommentsGame Keeps Crashing [February 2025]
My computer is up to date with all current OS updates. I recently purchased Snowy Escape and Crystal Creations. Ever since the last Sims 4 update, my game keeps crashing. There's no particular action i'm taking when it happens - last time I was in build mode and the game froze and then time previous I was just generally playing and the game quit out of no where. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Because at this point my game in unplayable. I have no CC or mods and plenty of room on my hard drive (>100 GB). Playing the Sims 4 on my brand new M4 Macbook air base game with no mods or even expansion packs has been incredibly frustrating. The game runs smoothly until it randomly decides to drop my frame rate from 60 fps to as low as 22. This was not an issue I was having on my M1 Macbook air with only 8GB of ram, as it ran flawlessly. I’m not sure if this is an optimization issue or something that went wrong during installation. I also noticed that going to the 2nd floor in some lots causes horrible lag, and when a sim turns a computer on the game is basically on the verge of crashing. This was happening day 1 of me getting this (non refurbished & absolutely brand new) Macbook. The only way I’ve been able to run the game with no issues is on low settings.1.5KViews0likes5CommentsGallery Won't Connect
I recently downloaded the Sims 4 on my Mac and it was running just fine until one day I tried to access the community gallery to download a house to my lot and it said that a connection was required. When I selected the 'connect' option it would just load forever and not do anything. I have tried clearing my computers cache, restarting and updating my computer itself, resetting my wifi router, resetting the Sims 4, and even deleting the whole EA app as well as Sims 4 off of my computer, only to redownload it and have the same problem. I am at my wits end! I have looked at so many forums and tried everything everyone has suggested and NOTHING is working, so I decided to make a post myself. If you have any tips, let me know please!!1.4KViews7likes4CommentsVisual Glitch
Windows, walls and trees flicker in places they are not meant to. I have a few short videos but I can't put them in. I've disabled all modes and tried moving into different saves but nothing works as I feel it's not just a one-save issue. I'm just updating my computer now but I'm not confident that will make any difference. I need help as I've been playing on this account for over a year and have spent a lot of money on it. If there is anything you think might work, please reply asap. I'm also, planning on buying the Buissnes and Hobbies expansion pack in March too so I desperately want this problem to be fixed before it drops.1.4KViews0likes2CommentsCannot start because game data is missing or damaged.
I have been getting the error message "Cannot start because game data is missing or damaged. If you have Mods installed please remove them and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via Origin" ever since the most recent update. I have no mods or CC downloaded. I have gone through the support help 4 times, which involved "repairing," uninstalling the EA app from my mac, uninstalling the sims 4 from my mac, reinstalling them, etc. My game still will not even load. Hi There, I have the EA app and when I click on Sims 4 to play, It minimises the EA app, the Sims 4 app bounces like its going to open, then it disappears and takes me back to the EA app. This happened all of a sudden and had made no changes that I am aware of from when I last played. I have no Mods or anything like that installed. I have tried the following a number of occacains in a number of orders and still does network Repair Sims 4 Delete Sims 4 then re-install EA app recovery and clear the Cache Delete the EA app and reinstall Delete my Macbook Cache Restarted my Macbook Gave EA app access to full hardriveMouse Shift/Drift problem
When playing The Sims 4 on my Mac, I encounter a specific problem in CAS mode. When trying to rotate the character or edit details—basically, in situations that require mouse movement—the mouse starts drifting on its own, regardless of whether I use a mouse or the trackpad. For example, when I'm trying to edit the nose details, I right-click and drag the mouse to the left, but it either moves in the opposite direction or resists the movement. It sometimes happens in both directions, but it occurs more frequently when moving left. I'm not using any CC or mods, and my computer settings are as follows... While playing as a sim in The Sims 4, I cannot move my overhead game view forward via my mouse pointer. I can only adjust my "sky" pov to the left, right, and down via my mouse. And, often when I try to move to the left, my mouse gets "stuck" and glitches, then appearing at the bottom of my screen. However, using the arrow keys does work. I think this may be related to upgrading to macOS 26.0, as I had played The Sims right before I updated and was not experiencing this problem.Solved625Views7likes21CommentsCAS and camera settings super glitchy
I have been limiting my use of the sims 4 on my mac because CAS is unusable with how glitchy it is. I can't edit any of my sims features, it glitches to the extreme and I can't get it back to normal. I can't even rotate around them in CAS. The same thing happens when my sims try to take a picture, I have no control over the camera and it glitches to the extreme when I try to move it. I saw previous posts on the forum with responses claiming the issue was fixed in an August 2022 patch, but this device was purchased in December 2023 and has had the issue since it's purchase, playing with no mods and after repairing and redownloading the game. Does anyone have any solutions? CAS is one of the best and most advanced parts of the sims 4 and it definitely makes it less playable when it doesn't work.
