Steam Input Configs in Apex — Automation, & Gray Market Nobody Talks About
This is An Open Letter to Respawn & EA: The Commercialization of Steam Input Macros and the Death of Competitive Integrity I want to have a serious conversation about something that's been ignored for too long. This isn't another aim assist debate — this is specifically about Steam Input controller configs and what they enable in Apex Legends right now. What's actually happening Players on controller are using Steam Input — Valve's official remapping tool — to automate mechanics that were designed to require skill. Here's what publicly available and actively sold configs do: Jitter Aim — automatic crosshair micro-oscillation that combined with rotational aim assist produces near-zero recoil. Physically impossible to replicate by hand with the same consistency. Superglide — The config executes it perfectly every single attempt. Neo Strafing — advanced movement that gives a massive advantage in gunfights. One button. 100% execution rate. Mantle Jump, Turbo Jump, Armor Swap, Fast Loot — all reduced to single button presses with millisecond precision no human hand can match. Why EAC doesn't catch it — and never will This is the core problem. Steam Input operates at the driver level, before the signal reaches the game. To EAC, a controller with a macro and a controller without one are completely identical — both send legitimate XInput signals. No code injection. No memory reading. Nothing for EAC to flag. You cannot ban this without banning Steam Input entirely. Which means banning it for every legitimate controller user on your platform. Respawn is trapped — and they know it. The gray market you're ignoring People are selling these configs. Not sharing — selling. Discord servers with paid tiers. Dedicated websites. Premium versions with extended features. Some channels which are selling it confirm that the sellers understand exactly what they're distributing. This is a commercial market for competitive advantage built inside a legal loophole that Respawn/EA created by never defining what is and isn't permitted. If a keyboard player ran software that automated Superglide/Neostrafe etc. — instant ban. A controller player buys a config file from a Discord server — nothing happens. Same outcome. Different rules. Zero explanation from the developer. Spreading the issue Furthermore, there are documented methods to force aim assist activation on mouse and keyboard through controller input spoofing — achieving the same result on PC while bypassing any enforcement. I want to be clear — this isn't a platform war post. Honest controller players are also being cheated here. The majority of controller players have no idea these configs exist. They're losing to people who paid for a config file and they have no way of knowing it. The problem is automation of skill-based mechanics combined with aim assist combined with zero enforcement combined with a commercial market operating openly. That combination is a competitive integrity failure regardless of what input device is involved. Respawn — you've enforced competitive integrity before. You've banned third party software. You've patched exploits when the community pressure was high enough. This deserves the same attention. Or at minimum — an official statement explaining where you stand. Because right now your silence reads as permission. My questions to Respawn/EA — and I'd genuinely like answers: Do you consider Steam Input configs that automate jitter aim, superglide, and neo strafing to be within the spirit of fair play in Apex Legends? If not — what are you doing about it, and why has it been ignored since at least 2021? Do ALGS tournament rules explicitly address Steam Input configs? If a pro player used these configs on stage, would that be a violation? Is it acceptable that people are commercially selling these configs — profiting from a competitive loophole that you have neither closed nor officially permitted? Final Note to the Community I will not be engaging in circular arguments with anyone attempting to defend these scripts as "just settings" or "accessibility features." This post isn't aimed at individual players, and I have no interest in debating those who profit from or rely on these macros. My goal is simple: clarity from Respawn. The community deserves to know if "competitive integrity" is still a core value of Apex Legends, or if the automation of skill is now the accepted standard. The silence has gone on long enough. It’s time for a definitive stance.2.5KViews16likes71CommentsSouth African Servers
Good day I am a teacher, and our school has started developing an e-sports team. I am in charge of our Apex division. I know that there is a lot of interest in the above-mentioned topic, and I would just like to hear what it would take to get a South African server. I have seen and personally signed multiple petitions to get a server, but unfortunately, over the past few years, there hasn't been any luck. Currently, Africa is the only continent without an Apex server, and I think that there is a huge opportunity here. I hope to hear from you soon. Hi EA team, My PS5 Apex Legends account is not displaying my EA ID despite cross-progression being live since Oct 2023. Details: - PSN: blessmyhedge - EA ID: BeatThaodds_TTV - Platform: PS5 - Issue: In-game name still shows "blessmyhedge" instead of "BeatThaodds_TTV" - I only have one Apex account. No merge needed. EA Help chat case 250996023 confirmed the entitlement isn't active on my account. The agent said they have no option to manually activate it or escalate. Per EA's cross-progression FAQ, the EA ID should display on console once active. Many PS5 players currently have their EA ID showing. Can a Community Manager or specialist please check my account and activate the cross-progression entitlement flag? Thank you.5Views0likes0CommentsUnlinked steam from original EA account, have i lost my progression
I recently unlinked my steam account and linked it to a new EA account to use as an alt account to play with friends in ranked. only just discovering now i cannot unlink my steam account from the new EA account and re-link it back. Just wondering if i have now lost all of my progress from my original account. i played a couple games on the new EA account on steam, some people are saying all of my progression is linked to EA, some are saying its linked to Steam. EA support wasn't much help, not clarifying if i have lost everything or not.13Views0likes1CommentGryo Aiming on Steam
I have a ps5 controller that uses gyro via the steam controller settings. Is using GYRO through steam against EULA? Or does the anti-cheat probably see steam as a 3rd party software? I've been worried for my account ever since they made this post about aim manipulation on steam... https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1172470/view/688635449342696561?l=englishLittleispep16 hours agoRising Newcomer7Views0likes0Comments- cop11717 hours agoSeasoned Novice3Views0likes0Comments
New Wildcard Mode
I like the wildcard mode, and the two "cyber upgrades" are intersting. This super punch ability when you overdo the cyber skills though has to go. This is just the stupid buster sword all over again. It's an auto kill attack especially late game. I have had so many end games spoiled by this... we play well, get good position and they roll in with this and kill everyone in 4 or 5 punches. It's just so stupid. It's just the buster sword all over again. I literally just quit end game as it was so frustrating and it has spoiled so many final rings. It's so dumb.23Views0likes2CommentsCan't use "jump"button to activate double jump with Octane jumpad any more
So before when I jumped with the Octane jumpad I could press the "jump" button and perform the double jump (or tripple jump with the perk). Now I have to use the "movement ability" button in order to do the double jump which really annoys me. Is there any way to use the double jump with the regular "jump" button as it was before?6Views0likes0CommentsPlayer Reports are useless, and so is the review team
I am sorry to say but: "Our well-trained, dedicated team reviewed your report using automation tools and established guidelines and processes, and decided not to take any action this time." I've gotten this mail 3 times, once for a guy that was called "**bleep** skins" and kept saying how much he hates **bleep** (that word is tolerated then i assume?), once for a guy that kept harassing me in the chat in-game and post-game, and once for a guy that literally ran it down because we said something wrong. If your team is unable to deal with people like that, what is stopping us from doing the same? Why would I not run it down too and harass other people just to feel better if there are no consequences? For good karma? Fix your tools, PUNISH people like that and stop messing around, it's frustrating enough to play with randoms as it is, if they can get away with being toxic for free too then everything's going to crap.TheDarkMoves1 day agoSeasoned Newcomer29Views1like2CommentsBan: Apex Legends You broke our rules against Gameplay enhancement.
after doing 3 cases on trying to appeal this ban nothing has changed they just say it right and we will not ban you, i havent cheated on cs or anygames and i have been part of ea since 2013 and ive been playing apex for years and not once cheated and because they have updated to a new anti cheat which is atually crap because it even banned streamers for the same issue and they all got banned under 24 hours and ive been banned since july 2025 and still nothing getting sorted and now because they have made it where when you make a appeal it gets sent to a AI bot and it declines the appeal and closes the case nothing gets looked at or anything they can legit check my pc and even review my apex games and see im just a average player im diamond rank XD i legit only play the game now and again since i play a load of other game like r6s and cs2 and few others and i spent quite abit of money on apex and nothing gets looked at and i aint dumb if i was to cheat i deffo wouldn't do on my main account, apex needs to sort there sh** out and actually look at the appeals and unban the right peopleSolveddannyboy9899891 day agoNew Novice1.2KViews0likes15CommentsI wanted to give this game one more shot but its not worth it
I actually uninstalled this week but came back today thinking I overreacted. But every wildcard and ranked match I've played today I've gone up against the usual BS: walling, recoil scripting, cronus, zen, xim, whatever. Every match is like this, I'm getting beamed across the map the minute I drop in, no matter where I am. The amount of people in your game using some kind of exploit is staggering. You are never winning against the cheaters when you make it so easy for them to buy another boosted account and get back in within 5 minutes. Free to play gaming is a cesspool, people actually want to spend money on your game but you don't do it. I know this is because you want the cheaters in your game to boost numbers for shareholders. This is so patheticYoko-Ono-U-Didnt2 days agoRising Vanguard260Views8likes29CommentsAxle Needs to be Stopped
I have 6500 hours in this game. why do developers constantly think that we want an unkillable stun drone to fight. I want fair gunfights. Who cares about the lore. Who cares about ALGS. WE WANT FAIR GUNFIGHTS. I don't even care if you keep her kit. but that drone DOES NOT need 100 health. On top of that, it shouldn't launch you in the air. I know you developers want every penny off your BS but c'mon, Do you guys even play your own game? Its not a game of skill or aim anymore. This game is a cheater fiesta in diamond lobbies+ right now and the worst part is that it's relatively easy to get to diamond 4 this season. You're guaranteed to be thrown into the cheater fiesta eventually and from my personal experience there's at least one player cheating. The cheating is so bad once you start reaching masters solo queueing you eventually just hope your two randoms are cheaters that can kill the other cheaters for you. I think the hardest cheat to detect is wall hacking because there are so many recon characters that give it for free such as vantage, valkyrie, and seer. The only way for me to tell if someone is wall hacking is when they're on my team or if I waste my time spectating someone. Nobody wants to waste their time watching and reporting when there's no feedback on bans or any rewards or compensation for that game.0damageGPT2 days agoRising Novice53Views2likes3CommentsI Want to Reclaim My Game Account Property – Multiple Unjustified Bans Appeal
Dear EA Support Team, I am writing to you as a long-time Apex Legends player who started back in 2020. With over 1,500 hours of total playtime, I consider myself a dedicated and loyal player. I am appealing for the following four accounts, all of which have been permanently banned: Account 1: my main account, created in 2020 Account 2: my first backup account Account 3: a new account created after the initial bans Account 4: my most recent account The situation began on the night of October 15, 2025, around 11:00 PM. My home computer was having issues, so I went to an internet café to play Apex. While playing the Wildcard mode, my main account (Account 1) was suddenly banned. I was completely stunned. I submitted an appeal, assuming it was just a simple false ban that would be quickly resolved. I then switched to my first backup account (Account 2), which hadn't even unlocked ranked mode yet, and queued for a normal match. I remember very clearly that the map was Kings Canyon. Before the match had even finished, while I was still moving around in-game, I was suddenly banned again. At that point, I couldn't even log into the game anymore. Two accounts banned in a single night, with less than an hour between the two bans — something felt seriously wrong. I began to suspect that the internet café machines might have had cheats installed on them previously, triggering some kind of hardware ID or machine-based ban. Now, some might argue, "Of course you'd get banned for playing at an internet café — you deserve it." But then let me ask: on those exact same machines, after my accounts were banned, my friend played seven or eight separate sessions and was never banned. How can that be explained? Is this an issue with the internet café, or is there a flaw in EA's anti-cheat system's judgment? I submitted at least 10 appeals across both accounts. I tried every method I could find — contacting customer support directly, writing detailed appeal letters in English, and using every approach shared online. Not a single appeal was successful. I felt completely defeated. So I decided to start fresh with a brand-new account (Account 3), working my way up from level one and completing all the new player missions. However, on March 12, 2026, at 8:30 PM, this new account was banned yet again — same internet café, different machine. I had just spent over 60 RMB on the battle pass, excited to try out the newly released Gundam Wildcard mode. I played fewer than three matches before my account was banned once more. At that moment, I couldn't help but ask: is it simply impossible to play Apex Legends at an internet café? Is your game so uniquely fragile that it can only be played on a personal computer at home? I was furious. But I had already made plans with two friends to play ranked together — was I supposed to leave before we even started? So I borrowed a friend's account, switched machines, and this time deliberately avoided Wildcard mode, playing only ranked. For nearly four months, I played on that borrowed account at the same internet café. On several occasions, I even went back to the exact same machines where my accounts had been banned and logged dozens of hours — strictly playing ranked. Not once was that account banned. That was when I realized: if I avoid Wildcard mode and only play ranked at an internet café, no ban occurs. So I have to ask, EA: isn't it enough that your game struggles with server issues and receives criticism for its character designs? Must you also prevent players from enjoying Wildcard mode at internet cafés? Can your anti-cheat and ban review systems please be improved? But it doesn't end there. On July 16, 2026, at 9:40 PM, my most recent account (Account 4) was banned yet again. This account was created on July 7, 2026 — barely 7 days old, with less than 12 hours of playtime. The reason, I believe, is straightforward: upon my first login, I mistakenly used a VPN instead of a gaming accelerator. When I noticed severe network instability, I immediately exited the game, disconnected the VPN, restarted my computer, and reconnected using a proper accelerator before logging back in. I only logged in to claim the Cyberpunk crossover event rewards and then immediately logged out without playing any matches. When I tried to play with friends later that evening, I found that the account was already banned. In less than a year, four of my accounts have been permanently banned. I have submitted over 30 appeals, and not a single one has been approved. I had already made up my mind to give up on this game forever. But today, July 18, 2026, I woke up and the more I thought about it, the angrier I became. Why? Because I played at an internet café? Because I played Wildcard mode? Because I accidentally used the wrong network connection? Why did three borrowed accounts, played on the same café machines for months, never get banned? Why is every new account I create banned and every appeal rejected? My main account (Account 1) holds approximately 4,000 RMB worth of purchases, including seven or eight Heirlooms and many high-value skins accumulated over the years. The money and time were my investment. The bans were handed down by you in an instant. I am genuinely outraged, yet every reply I receive remains cold and formulaic: "We have confirmed that your account was involved in cheating." For the first three banned accounts, the ban reason was listed as "Gameplay Enhancement"; for the most recent account, "Gameplay Simulation." Every time I asked customer support to specify exactly why my appeal was denied, no concrete answer was ever given. I was simply told that a "specialized team" handles such cases and that support staff don't have the authority to assist. Isn't this just outright buck-passing? The fact that I created three new accounts and played on a friend's account should be ample proof of my passion for this game. Yet that passion has been met with nothing but merciless permanent bans. I am certain I am not the only player feeling this anger and helplessness. There must be thousands upon thousands of players who have endured similar experiences. My request is simple: please unban all four of my accounts listed above and restore my game property. I swear on my life that I have never once used cheats. I urge you to conduct a thorough and fair review. I am fully willing to cooperate with any investigation required. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, A Chinese player who loves Apex Legends July 18, 2026Solved39Views0likes4Comments
