That is funky, for sure.
You've done all the troubleshooting I would have done.
You might try the following (in order):
- uninstall the game and all launchers - e.g. Steam, EA app, Origin (if still there)
- install Steam
- install EA app
- install the game
If that doesn't work, you may want to contact EA support directly.
While it's a drag, you could do a Windows system reset. That would likely take care of the issue.
