I did this and still nothing. I searched the activity monitor for the process for the sims and find nothing. Tried restarting but still says sims is running.
Please can you go to Force Quit and screenshot what apps are showing? The Sims 4 should be there, probably highlighted in red. You should be able to click on it then click on Force Quit. In Activity Monitor make sure you have the apps running sorted alphabetically so you can find The Sims 4. It may be idle in the background not using any CPU or memory so will be way down the list.
