The left shift key is completely unresponsive to everything, won't even capitalize letters. I've been having to use the right one for everything and the only thing I can't get to work with it is cheats for sims ☹️ . I am able to use it for other games, just not the sims. I ended up taking about 100 in game photos just trying to get it to work lol. I had a look at the post you linked to and couldn't find anything different with my keyboard or anything that caused a conflict with the game. As for remapping, I honestly haven't got a clue on how to do that, as It's something I've never had to worry about before.
Can you try repairing the game in Origin? Have you ever managed to get the cheat console to come up?

I did do a repair a few weeks ago after removing some old mods, I used to be able to bring up the cheat console all of the time when the left shift key worked, Never got it to come up with the right one. I wish there was a section in the options tab in the game to switch keys and controls for things. I ended up having to use the MC Command center mod to use cheats, I'll probably just have to wait for the next version of that to be released. Hopefully I'll be getting a new laptop in the future, I might as well save the cost of a keyboard repair for a new one all together eventually.
Can you move your whole Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts out onto your desktop and see if a brand new, clean game makes any difference? It may be worth trying an external keyboard too.
Hopefully the Mod will be updated soon 🙂
