Re: Why cant I put a fence in?

@tigerrun777  I did a small-scale re-make of the area and reproduced the same error. I also tried several changes to the wall area that did not effect the error. I also found that no matter which side of the porch you add the diagonal fencing piece to the 2nd side will not add and will give the error. You will see all of this in my video (link below). You can add the curved fencing instead, if you like. I also demonstrated how to do that in the video. Hope this helps.

I would love to be of further assistance if this doesn't work for you. Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

  • Thankyou so much you helped me a lot. I understand on how to do it now. Thanks very much. It is very weird it would not let me do things like this and other things. Also I have another problem I have a room that is raised with a sunken room but want to join it up with a room that is flat so when I draw one tile wall and moving it in place to join both rooms together it works but the top half is not joined up now I have a gap is there anyway to fix this?

@tigerrun777 I'm so glad the video and information was useful! 🙌

Per your question about connecting rooms of different heights...
When you have different rooms built on different 'blocks' (heights), there will need to be a one tile or more gap between them. If you want them to attach you have to make them the same level. If they're on different levels they'll need stairs to connect them for the sim to navigate between the rooms. You can, however, make a type of 'sunken room' on a first floor level, though it's a workaround and a bit fussy. This will also need to have stairs to connect for the sim to navigate it. This video shows how to make the sunken room on a first floor: https://youtu.be/C31xfPBqeWI

I just made a video of a workaround way to make a first floor sunken room and make it usable for the sims by adding stairs to connect. Please see if this technique helps clarify a bit how the different heights in this case connect via stairs. I have a build in the gallery in which I made a section of deck (where the table is) that used a two different heights and connected them with steps. If you have Island Living and would like to place this lot on Sapphire Shores in Sulani to check how that area is made you are welcome to. Unfortunately if you place the lot in another world or lot it will not place correctly because the whole home (and deck) are designed specifically for that lot and for over water placement: https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/2300886DA06111E989B3D5D7447C5F1D

Can you please provide a screenshot of the other issue/area that you're talking about (with the rooms at different levels) if this information doesn't address it? Thanks!

@tigerrun777 The stilt foundations were released free for base game in an update right before the Island Living pack came out. They can be used for builds that are not over the water, but they make it possible to build on certain lots in the Island Living world of Sulani. I made For instance, the lot I made this particular home on only has a small strip of land - the rest is water. You can see better what I mean about being over water in the slideshow that I made for that lot: https://imgur.com/gallery/f5TtREV

@tigerrun777 I have no idea. I'm on Mac. As far as I know the building process is the same on the platforms aside from any differences in new feature release times. For example, the configurable stairs were released for base game on PC/Mac in an update in September... before Console. I can't think of anything in the tips in the video and in my comments here that use recently updated features, though, so I would think that's not an issue.

  • Ok thanks. We just got the configurable stairs update but no muslim stuff.
