Re: Delay Between Clicking and Interaction Menu Appearing

Did the game ever run right? Do you have any mods? It is possible the system is running something in the background that is using a lot of resources. Run task manager and see if there isn't something running using a lot of cpu time. Please post your make and model of cpu.

Yes, my game has worked properly for about a year now.
No, I don't have any mods. I had one at one point, but I have since removed it.
My CPU is an Intel Pentium at, I believe, 4.2 Ghz. I know that it's pretty low, but, as I said, it has worked well for about a year now.
And I have studied the task manager while running the Sims 4, and there are no background programs that would take any or much CPU power. And like I said, the same thing would happen even when I lowered the graphics, where medium would lead to 50% CPU usage.

Does it matter which Sim you use ? Do they maybe have lots of stuff in their inventory ?

  • It does not matter which Sim I use. I'm currently using brand new household that has nothing in their inventories, and I am still having the same problems.

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

CPU is a bit low but it's not below min requirements.

Can you start a new game for testing purposes and see if you have the same issue ?

If you don't, are you willing to share your save game to see if it's reproducible on another computer ?

  • I have tried starting new saves to check for possible partial file corruption, but the same issue was still happening. I will gladly give you one of my most recent save files to check to see if it is reproducible on another computer.

Also, I'm not sure if this would help, but I was looking through my DxDiag file, and I noticed that I was getting two errors related to the Sims 4: "AppHangB1". One of them was under "fault bucket 129104184868, type 5" and the other was under "Fault bucket, type 0". Both had the same problem signatures listed underneath them. Not sure if that would help, but I thought it would be important to share.

    Edit:

That's odd. It won't allow me to place the save file here. Is there any other way that I can get this save file to you besides through the attachment system?

Use mediafire, dropbox or googledrive and PM me the link.

The AppHangs could have something do to do with it.

Could you post all the info of that.

Did you overclock your graphics card ? Did you try setting them to default settings to see if this makes a difference ?

  • I'm not really aware of how to overclock, so, no, i am not overclocking my graphics card. I also haven't done anything to set my graphics card back to default settings.

Also, I'm not sure if this would help, but my issue may have started shortly after updating my OS to Windows 10. I don't know why I didn't mention that earlier.

Then try uninstalling your graphics card drivers and open Nvidia system panel and reset everything to factory settings (there should be an option somewhere)

Did you reinstall Sims after upgrading to Win 10 ?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Bigger menus do take a tad longer for me to but never 2 sec

Where is it the worst for you ? At the police station ? Does it matter at all ?

  • It does not really matter where it is. Whether it's at an area like the house or the very congested police station, it does not change how long everything takes to appear. It becomes an annoyance when trying to interact with a sim on the street that's walking, where the game takes too long to register that you are clicking on a sim, essentially failing to interaction. Computers take the longest, because they have the most options.

I will take your advice and uninstall my graphics drivers. I did hear that very few people had issues like that upgrading to Windows 10.

  • Okay, I did what you said, which is uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, even to the Windows 10 64-bit version, and I am still having the same issue. I really hoped that this would work.

Update: Okay, I did some research and found what each P in WER means. Apparently P4 is the assembly where the fault occurred. So, the fault occurred in d3b4. My issue is trying to figure out how in the world to get there to fix it, or if I can find something to fix it automatically.

    I don't use Win 10 myself so I don't have a lot of insight.

You can pause the game if you want to get someone on the street, as a workaround.

Maybe @roberta591 has more ideas ?

I read this post before and drew a blank. Have you done a virus scan? There are several other games that are causing issues. The first couple of error logs pertain to the system and not a game which may be the root of the problem.

perform system file checker. Follow the steps below which will help you:

    1. Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      sfc /scannow.

This will correct the 2 system files IF they they are corrupt.

You could try to boot into safe mode and try to run the game.

Something is in conflict or corrupt. Take a look at the event viewer to see if there are any errors.

Okay, I haven't been able to find any conflicts in the event viewer, but Windows Error Reporting apparently caught on to the issue on April 23. I believe that is a while after I switched to Windows 10.

I also ran the system scans through the command prompt, and I get "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". So the programs are not corrupt, as is anything else in Windows Error Reporting, apparently.

Yes, I have run virus scans multiple times before. I'm a bit of a paranoid scanner.

I'm kind of losing hope that this will ever work properly again. If you can't think of anything else, I at least thank you for trying.

Okay, so I did what you asked and started my computer in safe mode. Although incredibly slow (because I built this computer and had to download all the drivers myself), it seemed as though when I clicked, the menu would appear immediately. So, we can conclude that this isn't my computer doing this, this is some application conflict. Do you have an idea or suggestions about where to go now?

The fact you have errors in other games tells me something is corrupt. tiworker.exe is a windows update program and the fact that this error might mean a Windows 10 patch is having problems. Check windows update for pending patches. The ntdll.dll could mean disc errors. A program like Macorit could test the integrity of the hard drive - macorit disk scanner (Macorit will take a while to complete). The program you ran before only tests critical windows programs and should have fixed them if corrupt.  I'm beginning to think there may be some deeper problems.I'm running out of ideas and the wizard (my son) is out at the moment. At this point I may be tempted to put a different drive in and gen it up and see if you have the same problem. Instead of an upgrade install Windows 10 from scratch. You can download the Win 10 iso from Microsoft. If the new install works you will know your computer is good and you haven't lost anything (yet).

What I find weird though is that all the other games besides the Sims 4 run completely fine. The Sims seems to be the only game that is showing any problems. And what really bothers me is why it just happened out of nowhere. I'm also running the scan now, I'll update you if it finds anything.

TiWorker.exe is a system program. esent.dll  usually associated with an exchange server but is found in many Windows versions. ntdll.dll points to a bad disc or some form of data corruption (memory module maybe).

The games HomeFront.exe, PlanetSide2x64.exe, and Gunpoint.exe are also generating a windows error report (wer). The wizard's first impulse without seeing the computer was memory module. Another thought - bumped something while poking around inside the computer. If that computer was on my work bench I would give the insides a real good visual inspection (no connectors loose, bulging capacitors, etc) followed by making sure everything was connected securely. Then I would pull the hard drive and gen up a clean windows install. If the computer is still running good I would install the game.

additional thoughts power supply just starting to fail - bulging filter capacitors, voltage regulators failing

motherboard again capacitors - bulging tops and no brown ooze

hard drive - excessive clicking means bad sectors

memory modules - if you switch them and get different problems you got a bad one

reset the bios and let the motherboard set default settings
