  • Hello @burin077

    Aaah alright I understand..
Well we tried to fix it, but on the link it says we need a certain map from Documents\Electronic Arts
But she doesnt even have that map on her computer..
Does she get that map when she has started up a game or how does it work?
So we cant do those things just because she doesnt have that map to even try to fix it.
We wondered if it can have something to do with that she bought it from her old Macbook computer, but now she has a windows desktop computer?
I dont think thats a problem..but i just wanted to ask you if you knew something about that.

Sorry for my bad english writing ^_^

If she's in a Windows environment, it will be in the following location (Provided the game is installed on the C:\ drive. )

    C:\Users\(UserName)\Documents\Electronic Arts

(UserName) is the name used to identify the user in Windows, so replace (UserName) with whatever the user's name is in Windows.

That directory (Electronic Arts\The Sims 4) is where all saves, mods, screenshots, pretty much all saved/customized data is stored; it also saves configuration settings, game version, and exception records (Usually used for crash troubleshooting.)

  • For some reason we found the map after she started the "sims 4 demo" and we tried every step on the link you gave me but it still doesnt work..
So we have absolutely no idea what to do now..
But if someone can figure it out, please tell me.

And thanks @burin077 for the help anyway! 🙂

Alright, let's try then from another standpoint; I will need a little bit of information to advise going forward:

    - What version of Windows are you on?

    - Has the game worked previously on this computer, or is this a whole new system? (You mentioned a Macbook and Windows environment, so I'm mostly looking to clarify here.)

I want to make sure I'm providing steps/advice appropriately so I don't accidentally give you the wrong steps.

  • Okay sure, she is using Windows 10..
She went from a Macbook laptop to a Windows desktop over a year ago i think.

So she is on a new computer.

    Yes of course. 🙂

    Okay, so a new computer.

    Let's try the following steps:

    - Open the Task Manager and select "More Details."
    - Select the "Details" tab at the top.

    - Select the "Name" tab to sort by Alphabetical order.

    - See if you can find an instance of TS4.exe, or TS4_x64.exe (If so, right-click on it, and select "End Task." Attempt to re-run Sims 4 thereafter.)

(If this resolves it, let me know.)

If you don't find either task, close the Task Manager, and move onto the steps below:

    - Close Origin completely. (Click the arrow on the bottom-right of your taskbar, right-click the Origin logo, select "Quit Origin."

    - Re-Open Origin as an Administrative User in Windows. (Easiest way is to select the Windows icon on the lower left, type "Origin" to bring up the Origin logo, right-click the logo, then select "Run as Administrator.")

    - If you get a notification message asking to authorize making changes, hit OK.

    - If you need to sign back into Origin, do so. (If your computer is already trusted, it should just log you in.)

    - Go to "My Game Library."

    - Find The Sims 4 in your Game Library, right-click it, then select "Update Game."

    - Once it finishes updating and confirms the game is up-to-date, open the game.

If the game is still giving you the same error, let me know. If it works too, let me know as well.

    Last question then:

Are you both using the same Origin account to access Sims 4?

    - B

  • No we are not using the same Origin account.

But today my girlfriend was just checking around and when she took down the windows firewall it worked.
So she just turned it off. and then it all worked.
And she made it work when she turned off "regulated folder access" on the firewall.

So now it all works fine. :D
@FoxHart24 i hope you can make it to work also.

Thanks for your patience and all the help @burin077 🙂

Hmm, sounds like there might have been an added level of folder security beyond what I initially suggested.

What normally causes that error is that the game is trying to access game files in its initial installation location, and if it isn't able to, it assumes that the program is already running since it can't access them.

Good to know for future troubleshooting; thanks for being patient with me while we both hashed this issue out, happy Simming.
