Re: Packet Loss only in Apex

I've had this exact experience, starting a few days ago. Connection in other games/applications is perfect, but in Apex experiencing 10-25 packet loss regularly aside from a few 0 packet loss games sprinkled in. I have done about all of the troubleshooting that I can at this point, and I play with other people locally who are not experiencing the issue. At this point I'm wondering if it's an issue specific to my ISP (AT&T).

Appreciate the input as funnily enough, I also have AT&T (non-fiber cuz that's not avail where I am sadly).

If you run a tracert to easo.ea.com, does yours timeout on 3 different hops consecutively?

  • Yes, the trace route consistently times out on hops 4 through 6. I'm on AT&T Fiber and located in the Midwest. I have had some luck playing on coastal servers, specifically New York, so I wonder if it's just a different route that avoids the problematic hops? I'm not versed enough in how that works to know if that's a potential explanation. I haven't tried pursuing it with AT&T, but I suppose it's possible they could do a reroute if the problem is identified. Really just guessing at this point.

For what it's worth, over the past two days the issue has largely resolved itself for me. My connection to my usual server has been much better, though still hitting a tough game here and there. Tracert still times out consistently hops four through six, so that must not be a defining issue.

So mine was completely fine for the last ~2-3 weeks, however as of today it's back.

EA any help you can provide? It's ONLY in Apex... no single packet loss test shows any issues, even ones specifically designed to test Apex packet loss.

I'm having the same issue, had this a couple weeks back, only in Apex.

Today I've been trying to play a couple games but they've all had 5 - 11% packet loss. No issues yesterday.

Any other game or service works perfectly fine. This happens on all EU gateways for me.

  • Just to note, seems using a VPN prevents it from happening.

This does add a bunch of delay though so it really doesn't feel very good to play with..

  • Seems to still be on-going & affecting many other people based on the threads posted. I'm guessing there's no assistance to be offered?

Also, one thing I also noticed is when I first load Apex, the data center list will have packet loss on pretty much every server. If I restart, it goes away from the data center list, but usually reappears in-game after a few matches.
