Re: Clearing up some misleading news

@BigMacAttack8u You're not going to change anyone's mind. However thanks for your post. I've been thinking the same as you wrote about this on occasion ever since that video footage was first released.  As for myself, I play only in console lobbies, and I couldn't care less if Respawn were to decide to nerf aim assist.  I'd still be on equal footing with my competition, regardless.  If it would silence even just a percentage of the whining and malding over this particular topic, that would be a win in my book.

There is only one true way to end the whining over this issue. Some have screamed for it, others don't want it.

    PC plays against PC.

    Console plays against Console.

And there is the end to the huge controversial console AA vs PC.

Now if only bringing the great toilet paper roll debate to an end, could be as easy.

    : )

@pandareno1999 There are definitely players who really rely on aim assist to play, especially in CQC. If they decide to nerf it, you'll definitely see those who constantly ADS even in CQC become a bit more dominate at the game.

@NickBeam27 If I may quote myself here “Also before someone suggests that the lobbies be separated, most of the player base is in console, or plays controller on pc. Respawn wants quick que times to make the game more enjoyable and therefore more profitable, I don’t think they will ever change this.”
Unfortunately I believe that solution will never come to pass, as profits from apex would begin to dip, friends not able to play together, and pc having longer q times.

@BigMacAttack8u Oh I am aware of that fully. I said it with the knowledge that it would never happen. I just know it is also the only way to end the long standing debate over it all.
I understand exactly what it would do to the game in its entirety.
I personally do not enjoy playing in PC lobbies, but it is what it is. I don't believe it will ever change - much like the broken sound engine, Respawns ability to balance or the reveal meta talking a break. : )
  • @BigMacAttack8u  when the option to disable aim assist became available I turned it off shortly after, and honestly aiming felt so much smoother once I adjusted to it.

Now I'm not saying AA isn't helpful by any means....I just found it a heavy hindrance In certain scenarios....and honestly I just find it a more genuine gaming experience in apex. We're all using controllers on apex(console) so I mean really we shouldn't need it per say. At least that's my opinion anyway.

I guess pc is a trickier topic but the bottom line is movement beats AA and there's no getting around that fact lol.

Ok, so Aim Assist does not apply to hipfire? Then what are the laser sights for?

I admit to not knowing a ton about the various types of AA (or even how to turn it off an on in Apex yet) but at least with Destiny 2 I notice I hit hipfire shots from AA that would have missed more than when aiming. Based on everyone I see seeming to shoot hipfire in the Crucible, I thought it applied to hipfire only (and aiming, was, well, manual aiming).

My problem in FPS games is that as in real life, I ALWAYS AIM MY GUN. Using real guns for 25+ years has drilled into my head that you, "AIM, you DO NOT HIPFIRE, and you know what your target is and why lies beyond it." As a result, I keep aiming all the time even in close range and usually get wrecked. If I can keep enemies at "marksman" ranges I can usually hit.

So, does aim assist apply to hipfire or aiming in Apex? Maybe that's why I keep getting wrecked is cause I aim like I would any real gun...

@Kyldenar Aim assist works with ads and hip firing. I'm curious to understand what Darth meant. I think he meant that people that ads die more because they move slower but I don't see how removing AA would matter. You have it both ways.

If you are not hip firing close up you will lose most fights.

@hayhor Is the value higher when aiming?

And does 'quick scoping' work for people? I can't keep track of the movement of crap much less multiple enemies doing that...

@hayhor You don’t even have to quick scope to reduce it, if you just hit the left and right trigger at the same time, it greatly reduces the spread, especially for snipers.

@BigMacAttack8u So, when I spectate matches after dying, this is why I see some people shaking like they allowed an epileptic into the army? That is how it looks when they rapidly tap both triggers at the same time?

@Kyldenar From what I can picture from your description, you're seeing players using their strafe and crouch to avoid taking unnecessary damage. Or you might just be seeing them spam crouch (when you have an eye for it, you can tell from the nature of the crouch spam whether players are probably cheating using Cronus or similar, which have macros for doing this rapidly while maintaining aim).  Players don't rapidly switch from ADS to hipfire repeatedly. They just flash the ADS at the beginning of the burst.  They sometimes might then ADS once or twice again while firing, usually to slow down their reticle to adjust their aim.

What I am hearing is that I will never be good at this game because the guns follow no real laws of physics, because in the real world you can't hit crap moving like that.

    And that people cheat.

@Kyldenar Correct! But don’t be down, just play silly! I use the sentinel close range, and the mozam long range. I love it when I kill a streamer, and get to see their reaction! It’s also very satisfying to kill the hacker (mostly arenas).

@Kyldenar Do you play on console or PC? Because I've found that on console, the rotational aim assist pretty much negates all of the movement that I've practiced for avoiding damage when without cover.  Between AA and just shooting at their midsection, t's not too hard to hit the people who are very rapidly crouch spamming, and gives me a nice excuse for throwing out a Silver holo spray right after!

@pandareno1999 On PC with controller (because of both carpal tunnel and most of my FPS experience was on console anyway, the old split screen days of Halo 1 cooperative).

@pandareno1999 It depends on your character. If you are say pathfinder and run into a crouch strafe spamming wraith you'll shoot right over the top of her. I had this experience tonight. I teabagged once I learned to shoot down since that was her only tactic.
