Re: Sims 4 Fire

Click on the tile that is on fire, a choise to extinguish the fire should pop up, which makes your sim grab an extinguisher and put out the fire. If YOU catch fire, take a shower to put it out 🙂

I told my Sim to "extinguish fire" but he just ran around until he caught fire. Got him in the shower, so he's been doused and saved, but still cannot get him to extinguish the fire. This has been an ongoing MAJOR BUG since the original Sims game. I'm beginning to think that the creator/s think it is funny. I don't.

Where are the firemen? How do I put the fire out when my Sim cannot do so because they are freaking out, or I keep getting the message "cannot do because there is a fire on the lot".

Doh! So tired of this problem. Thanks in advance for any advice.

But what if you forgot to put in a fire extinguisher?!?!?! I'm SOOO scared for my sim, even though she's safe and out of her apartment...

@will_gardiner , you don't need to buy or put in a fire extinguisher ... they appear out of nowhere like mops do when you direct your Sim to extinguish the fire! 😎

i did exactly that but it set my sims on fire and killed one.
  • This doesn't work. You can't do anything; go to the bathroom, shower, use the phone, eat, etc while the fire is going. I tried to wait it out today. It burned for an hour and a half real time. I had to cheat to keep my sims from starving. I eventually had to restart my game because it was obvious the fire would never go out. EA needs to fix this. Why can Sims not call the fire department? It's ridiculous.

Yes you can. If you are on fire you will have an option to "extinguish self" when clicking a shower. If you are not on fire this option is obviously not there. The option to put out the fire will be there when clicking the fire unless you yourself is on fire which makes sense.

@KateDunn1@nikolasgaming123, what @jpkarlsen suggested should work for you.  If it doesn't then maybe your game is glitching.  In that case you can either try a "cheat" to reset you Sim, or you can exit your game without saving.  If you exit your game, you will loose all progress since your last save, so if you haven't saved in a while, you might try to avoid this.  In that case you can try the cheat by pressing "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "C" to bring up the cheat box and in the box type "resetsim First name Last name.  So for example, if your Sim is Bella Goth, you would type in the box "resetsim Bella Goth" and press "Enter".  🙂

However, please try what jpkarlsen suggested first! 😉

  • Great advice, unless the game won't let you exit out of the "on fire" task and move on to the "extinguish self" task. I tried about a hundred times to get my Sim to go to the shower, and he just stood there and burned to death.

Cancel the On Fire task by clicking on it in the task queue.

  • I really, really miss having a fire department in Sims 4.
My Christmas tree started a fire the other day. Two of my children died from it while others were trying to put each other and them out. Luckily they were spared from death (both of them! How lucky!) and their family continued to mourn them uncontrollably for days.
  • True, but I think there's a object in front of the fire so I cant put it out. They also made it so I can't go in to build more to move the object in the way while a 🔥 is in the lot. I need help ASAP 😳😰

You would need to wait until the object that is in the way burns away or load a previous save. Consider installing sprinklers in the future.

  • For some reason when I try making them extinguish the fire, they just don't go and continue to stand in panic. Is this a glitch as well? Or is my Sim just too scared?
