no sims in game only houses

I seem to be struggling. All my sims appear to be there i can edit them in create a sim but whenever i go into a plot every sim disappears and i cannot figure out how to bring them back

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

*sigh* where to start? 

I’d love feedback or advice if anyone can give it, but I also just needed an outlet and support. 

I’m very excited for this update. Lovestruck and the base game update look very cool. I also use a lot of mods. I deleted those that I knew, for a fact, would mess with the base game update. 

My game was functioning just fine for a while. But then, the “cheat need -> make happy” cheat wasn’t working, and my sim’s sleep need wouldn’t go up (This is no longer my problem). 

I got mad and deleted a bunch more mods as well as my local thumb cache. Then, when I went back into my game, the “load game” screen shows my saves - But when I go in, ALL OF MY SIMS AND TOWNIES ARE GONE. THERE’S NO ONE THERE. And when I try to play my household, it only shows my lot and a disfigured panel (my sims aren’t there, I can’t look at their needs, etc. I can only leave the game) 

I’m going to back up my save files, god forbid something truly terrible happens, but oh my god, why is this happening? I have close to NOTHING in my mod files that could be causing this to go on. I tried to repair my game and that didn’t help either. 

this is truly a head scratcher for me. I know this update is new and not all the answers may be out yet, but I’m so annoyed and wanted to share what was going on in case anyone else is too. I appreciate any comments/advice! 

@meganlovehope1 and @0803KF  Does this happen with no mods or custom content present?  Please test if you haven't already.  You may need to load a backup save:

ive tried that all the stuff is fine but the sims are still missing when i load into plots

I do not see the blue thing, only houses. It kind of looks like what an empty house looks like when you hover over it. 

I tested it without my mods and cc and it still wasn’t functioning.

I also loaded a backup save and it didn’t fix still. plan to do a factory reset - will lyk how it goes

OKAY I FIGURED IT OUT! 

I did a factory reset and everything is working fine and dandy now - I had to delete some really old notification files from mods that were backing up my sims

So i know that there are huge bugs since the new pack came out, I do not have this pack and along with everyone else am having issues, my game was ok, a few bugs like my sims being mean to each other occasionally and my game taking much longer to load, but this was easy to fix and ignore, i do have cc, but ive went through my files making sure they are all up to date.. they are fine.

When i opened my game again later on in the day i was playing fine until the game wouldn't let me select the sim i wanted to control in the household, i just thought it was my wifi so i restarted the game, but when i re-opened my game and went back to my household my sims were gone and the jobs, skills, etc boxes were all blank except 2 '@@'s. 

I went to manage worlds to see if they were still there and they weren't. i hovered over another household and all i saw was 2 blue squares going feral and glitching along with a loading swirl. i restarted the game again and now i cant even go back to the save i was in, it only gives me the option to start my save from scratch 😕

I genuinely don't understand how an update/ pack can be so broken and STILL be released...

@Emerald_Wizardry  Please test with no custom content at all, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.  If you need to recover a backup save, here's how:
