Re: How to make sims 4 more challenging

@shamelle71 This was an easy answer for me. Tons of customization options. Season lengths, sim lifespans, plant and animal lifespans, how much objects sell for / cost, how much jobs pay, how fast needs decay, how fast you can raise needs / relationships, etc. The ability to adjust the details of the gameplay are how we create our own challenges. We obviously have mods that can do this stuff for us but it'd be so much nicer and cleaner if it was just built into the game.

I would like difficulty sliders for career, skilling, etc.

    Options:

    1. Don't hurt me, I'm a kid!

    2. I've played this game once or twice.

    3. Hit me with your best shot.

    4. I can handle this.

    5. Nightmare mode.

Similarly, I would like a drama slider:

    1. Rainbows and llamacorns, please.

    2. I'm fine with rescuing lost toddlers and helping the neighbors patch up their relationships.

    3. Goldilocks mode.

    4. Throw some extra random events at me! I'd like a little spice!

    5. Extra spicy! random cheating and fistfights are HILARIOUS!  BRING IT ON!

That should satisfy both the control freaks (er hi?) and also those who don't want to be the God of All Sims and generate all drama themselves.

(MC Command Center does have options to make skilling and careers more difficult and also bills adjustment.  There are also mods to let you get hit by a car or get an incurable disease.)

That said, lot challenges are a step in the right direction and I LOVE THEM.  If you want burglars, I'd suggest creating a lot challenge of "high crime area." (I'm playing Vlad in one save, and he would LOVE burglars--better than Zoomer's food delivery!--but most of my other saves, not so much.  That said, I know other people remember them fondly and loved them.)

Also, seconding the request for more big ticket items to buy.  I own a couple of businesses, one of which is basically a home base for my Conservationist to go to when he needs to work (so it's a "business" rather than a business, if you see what I'm saying).  We're often ending up 9,999,999, so here's what I do so I don't say "But if I sell that painting I won't get paid because 9,999,999!":

    1. Dump money into the "businesses."

    2. Give money to our children. I'm sad that the largest amount you can give as a gift is so small.  I go into manage households, and shuffle Sims around long enough to be able to give the children millions.

    3. Donate to charity.

    4. At this point, any adult child who marries out gets 5,000,000.  That's coming soon in one save.

I'm also considering taking the recycler to some of our household inventory.
