@Miles_Gamer_2020 Sorry I should have explained that! In the lot information in Build mode in the top left hand corner just go to Lot Type and change it to Rental. I've added an image of it and where to select the Lot Traits and Challenges.

Looking at it now there are 2 types of haunting Lot Traits. Theres the Island Spirits Lot Trait that are part of Island Living and there's the Spooky Lot Challenge Trait that is from City Living (along with Cursed and Gremlins). I've attached that too.

If you don't have Island Living or City Living, the open/ruined Haunted House would be the way to go. Actually if you do have Island Living the Admiral's Wreckage Lot would be ideal because it has the shipwreck with a basement that you could access with a visiting Sim.

I found it does work on a Vacation/Rental lot after testing it. You don't actually really need it to be a Spooky Lot because you can still summon spirits with Invoke the Dead (shudder) on the Seance Table or with the Medium Skill and drawing a Seance circle, you can still summon Bonehilda too. I can't summon Guidry on a lot that isn't a Haunted House Residential lot (clicking on his image just says Open Profile and the helping hand is only for HHR lots) and there's no Temperance either. But you do still get the Haunted Effect while Communing with the Departed and a variety of ghosts and spectres will visit, just without leaving creepy relics.
I could also do all but one option on the Seance circle, I couldn't sense spiritual volatility but could do the rest.

The ruined house also works. I did a very quick ruined temple and set it to Haunted House Residential. I added a creepy basement but my visiting Sim couldn't go downstairs even though it's open but never mind. I moved the creepy stuff to the ground floor instead. My visiting Sim could still take part in a haunting (shivers).
Totally creeped out now and switching all the lights on!
