So, now I have the kit I love the content. I think kits have really improved which each release. I love the furniture style and I really like the panelling too.
I do have a couple of small issues though. Firstly, another really beautifully designed bed that looks really comfortable but has a pretty low-ish comfort rating of only 5. This is after the Horse Ranch beds that only have a 4 rating. I'm not sure why the newer beds have such low comfort ratings as it does affect the Sims.
My second problem is that the curtain poles aren't always lining up properly, especially over platforms ( images attached) it took me forever to get mine done. I eventually figured out a way by using Half Grid Snapping for the curtain poles and Free Placement for the curtains. The curtain poles in the Desert Luxe kit are much easier to place.
But it's lovely content and I still recommend the kit! I love the little vanity table in particular and the lights are beautiful, so is that amazing TV ❤️.

@simsplayer818 Hey I normally use bb.moveobjects and raise them up manually. The Desert Luxe Ones are classed as a "wall decor" rather then a Curtain! The bed quality is Very Poor I agree it should be about 7-8 comfort maybe @EA_Cade , @EA_Solaire Could ask about that but 5 is shockingly low for such a comfortable looking bed!
- @gooochyeee I thought about using a cheat to place them but on Xbox we lose our achievements if we use a cheat. I'm considering it more and more though. I finally got there though after a little frustration with it. Shrinking some of them helps too.
I love the pink items in particular, I've based a whole build around it using that colour scheme.
It's for my furniture crafter Sim so I'm going to get her to upgrade some of the beds to sell in her department store along with her crafted beds...once I've created her she's got work to do! - gooochyeee2 years agoSeasoned Ace@simsplayer818 Thats really stupid. I can NOT live without my bb.moveobjects however. I am pretty sure its just the testingcheats on cheats and moveobjects can be done without but someone else will need to confirm that for me
- @gooochyeee I'm going to be trying them out at some point so I'll do some investigation. It's taken a lot of thinking over first lol.
@simsplayer818 Hey! You don't have to turn on cheats to use the MoveObjects cheat. To be sure, I just tested in a new save on PS4. I pressed all bumpers / triggers to open the console, typed in bb.moveobjects and got the notification that MoveObjects cheat is ON. I did not get the notification that it would disable trophies and achievements that comes up when you type in testingcheats on.
@JonaO703You are awesome 👏 thank you! I was just about to ask about it as I was recently told there was a cheat that didn't disable achievements but I couldn't remember if it was MOO (or who told me in the first place 🤦).
I want to be able to place the Perfect Pillows. So I'm going to finally try it as I notice the SC review says "with a few cheats" you can place them. I've made a window seat out of a platform to feature some but I hope with MOO I'll be able to put them on seating like @gooochyeee mentions being able to place them on DHD sectionals. I've tested every sofa and loveseat so far (all packs except Vampires/HSY) and some living chairs and beds but they won't go on any bed or seating so far.Edit: still can't place the throw pillows even with MOO 🐮, it's not helping with the legendary curtain rod/legendary curtain placement either. But using the cheat is going to be handy anyway and you were right, there was no warning about disabling achievements 😁.
@simsplayer818 Yeah. That doesn't look right at all! lol After turning MOO on for my PS4 game, I spent some time learning the controls. It's a lot different with keyboard and mouse. Apologies if you already played around with this and figured it out for yourself but I thought it might be helpful, for you and anyone else on console using MOO, to list what I learned.
- The left trigger toggled the full snap, half grid snap and free placement. However, this is a bit buggy because objects still tend to snap to the grid when you place them on another object; I tried it with a TV on a table and window covering on a window. Anywhere else, the free placement allowed me to move objects anywhere.
- To rotate objects like the TV (and likely that pillow) I held down the L+R bumpers and used the right analog stick. That part is actually a little easier than using keyboard+mouse. lol
- Lastly, to raise objects (that don't auto snap) I held down the L+R triggers and used the up / down directional pad buttons. Maybe you can try that with the pillows since they certainly don't seem to snap to your chairs. :-)
Edit: I played around a bit more and found that I could free place the window covering and then move the window into place without snapping. Maybe you could place the window and covering. Then, move the window out of the way, use free placement to adjust the covering up or down, and move the window back. This really isn't ideal since you have to eyeball the placements a little bit. I'm not sure if the outcome will be worth the effort but it might be worth a try. :-)
- gooochyeee2 years agoSeasoned Ace@JonaO703 Do you have quarter tile snapping? that helps alot
@JonaO703 thanks so much for checking that out, yes I also found that items were still snapping to the grid. There is a report for the Desert Luxe curtains and poles not lining up and it seems Modern Luxe has the same issue, I found my Medium Desert Luxe ones don't line up now either like they used to. I reported it. So I'm going to try what you suggested today, it's listed as a workaround on that bug report too so I'm hopeful that will work 🤞.
I was going to report the throw pillow issue but it appears that it was always only going to be possible with cheats and easier on PC which is a little disappointing. So I think I'll just be making decorative areas with platform sections that aren't functional as seats but look nice anyway with the throw pillows. It's a bit style over substance that little pillow.
@gooochyeee we have full/half grid snapping and free placement commands on Xbox and can place in a quarter grid on walls and floors only.
Edit: the curtain workaround did work, which is odd because it was snapping quite high above the actual window as well as on the window and only offering those 2 options. It solved both issues to remove the window and place curtains first, then pole and lastly window. That's for a tall wall. I found a different method for a short wall as I mentioned earlier in the thread. But the cushions just don't work so I'm going to raise it on console feedback and see if it can be considered in our ongoing controls reviews.
That's all I needed... argumentative soft furnishings 🤦. I'm now going to bury my head in some real throw pillows and scream loudly.
@simsplayer818 Wait, do you mean that you were not able to raise the pillow onto the chair? I don't have the Modern Luxe kit on my PS4 but I used MOO to place the lunch box ... it's about the same size right? lol
There's some clipping when the sim sits in the same spot but it still worked. I figure if it works for the lunch box then it should work for the pillow. These are the steps I took.
- Enabled MOO
- Moved the lunch box "under" the sofa
- While the lunch box was still active / green, pressed L+R triggers and directional pad up to raise it
- Pressed L+R bumpers and right analog stick to rotate
- Clicked X to place
@JonaO703Thanks so much for checking that for me. It's looking like an Xbox or Xbox Series X issue. EASolaire is assisting me on the the technical issues thread. I tested it on other items too and ironically I could place a games console on seating but not the throw pillows, they just snap to the floor. I had a response on the technical issues thread from a PS5 player too who said it works for her too and since it works on PC that narrows it down to Xbox by the look of it...or just me... maybe... hopefully not... nothing would surprise me 😕.
It would have to happen to the world's biggest throw pillow fan.
Edit: after another few hours of testing I attach a few images (here and on the tech issues report) of well behaved soft toys sitting on furniture exactly where I placed them and the throw pillows doing the exact opposite. I came up with a decorative solution that I'm happy with though by mimicking the Desert Luxe seating and end tables by using platforms to make what I am now calling "faux seating" 😁.
Just to update on this placement issue we got there eventually and it helps to remove the sofa and place the throw pillows with MOO then click them up to the right height then put the sofa back and place the pillows with free placement. That's for anyone having the same issue. Same as the workaround for the curtain/pole placement where it works better if you add them before placing the window.
