Apex Legends lacks basic online communication features, 4-man mode
I'll try to keep this short. Apex Legends definitely has potential and I admire a lot of the helpful innovations that Respawn is bringing to the genre, such as pinging. However, in my last two days of playing, there are basic and much needed features the game lacks on Xbox Live that both frustrate and confound me to no end.
1) There is no way to bring up another player's gamercard in order to interact with WHILE IN GAME, so for example, if you run into a friendly player who actually uses their microphone to communicate, you can't quickly add them to your friend's list, and since Xbox Live's "Recent Players" list in the system dashboard has a tendency to be late to update or skip over players that you just played with or are currently playing with, if you do not memorize that player's name and take the time to add them to your list manually, you'll lose contact with that player forever once the match ends. Conversely, if a player is using their mic for evil (being abusive, picking up background noise or transmitting an ear-piercing signal, there is NO WAY TO MUTE THEM IN GAME, so you are stuck with whatever disruptive noise they are making until they shut their mic off (and good luck getting them to do that since no one likes to use their mics in this dark age of the internet). Almost every multiplayer shooter made now has the above features, why are they missing in a game like Apex, in which effective communication is CRUCIAL?!?
2) This is not a "basic" feature but would be nice to have: The in-game ability to quickly REQUEST AN INVITE TO PARTY CHAT or INVITE THE OTHER PLAYERS TO GAME CHAT . What I've observed is that most players who are playing Apex right now have microphones connected, and you can even see the mic symbol next to their names. However, they either choose not to use them, or are using them in party chat to talk with friends, rather than communicate with the players on their team, which almost always leads to humiliating losses and a waste of time for everyone on the team. What's really puzzling is that many of these players would be happy to chat with their team, but don't know that the other players feel the same, either because they are already in Party Mode and can't hear anyone else on their mics, or they've already grown accustomed to joining games where no one uses their mic even if they have one equipped, so they don't bother to even try communicating. Obviously we can't force players to talk to their team if they don't want to, but at the very least, a feature like this would allow players who want to communicate in jolly cooperation a better chance of hooking up with like-minded players and having more satisfying games.
3) Another related feature that would be nice to have: The ability in settings to AUTOMATICALLY FILTER OUT PLAYERS WHO DO NOT HAVE MICROPHONES. Again, this would not be a magic solution, as many players have microphones connected but choose not to use them for one reason or another, but this would at least increase the likelihood of players who wish to communicate to be hooked up with players who likewise wish to communicate or have the potential to do so.
4) Finally, as someone who has three brothers and plays with them in PUBG on occasion, I'd really like to see a 4-man mode. All the above problems I've mentioned are reasons why I prefer to play only with real-life friends, where communication is a given, and a 4-man mode would allow us all to play together rather than having one person have sit out and wait their turn. While I fear this may not ever be in Respawn's plans, I've got my fingers crossed that this will eventually happen (just like I'm hoping we'll eventually get a proper, full-featured sequel to Titanfall 2 -- hint* I'm talking about Titanfall 3).
Thanks in advance for taking this feedback into account.
