Apex Support Rolls: What is support?
Just wanted to make a post about support rolls in video games and all that they can entail. Presently we only have a healer and a looter support but there really is a larger variety.

The author suggests the idea of making mirage a support legend instead of assault, and I would actually wholeheartedly agree, as the potential for the following exists:
- Mirage clones could be toggled to an ally on his team, IE send out a lifeline clone teammate to screw with enemy
- Mirage ultimate could stealth his allies when activated in close proximity
- Mirage could share his tech with allies and create a clone of an ally BESIDE them with a specific prompt when aiming at them in some fashion
- Mirage could share is tech with allies and activate his ultimate ON an ALLY, making them stealth and cloned. Creating new unique ambush and escape situations
A support roll that covers team mates by confusing enemies about their positions would truly be an amazing thing, as there are too many assault characters in this game as it is.
Other notions of support in video games however also include:
Debuffer Rolls
- Slowing opponents, whether in movement or aim
- Blinding, impairing or blocking their view
- Confusing audio (this would require it to first be fixed however)
- Increasing the damage an opponent would take via being directly hit (vs rampart walls buffing damage output of bullets going through)
- Decreasing weapon damage output on the target
- Causing misfires on an opponents weapon
- Slow minor health or shield damage over time (similar to caustic's gas)
- Reducing enemies maximum health or shields temporarily (potentially too powerful for apex)
Buffer Rolls
- Increasing ally damage output (either via damage or fire rate boost)
- increasing ally maximum health temporarily
- increasing ally movement speed
- increasing ally ability to perceive the enemy
- reducing damage an ally would take from a hit
- temporarily stealthing allies (mirage suggestions above)
- healing over time (different from lifeline's direct and large healing, slower and more gradual similar / closer to wattson's passive)
These various effects can occur in a variety of methods:
- Direct, apply it to self or ally immediately. from afar or close proximity.
- Pickup, the effect could occur by either ally or enemy intentionally or accidentally picking up the effect. interacting or walking over it.
- Aura, the effect could occur when near the ally or opponent. Does not currently exist in apex, unsure if it should.
I am deliberately listing this information here because Apex NEEDS more support rolls. Not just healers or allies that help you get more loot faster. It has been mentioned some were in development, though whether or not the legends in question will function with any of the above is unknown. I would sooner see the next 4 legends be support to improve the variety of squads than ANY more assault or recon classes.
