Gold Chestplate Feedback
I think of all the Golden loot available, the Golden Chestplate is by far the worst. The ability to recharge it by performing an assassination is slower than using a shield battery that accomplishes ...
It taking longer than a shield battery isn't really the problem, the problem is that you're removing yourself from the fight for a free recharge to preserve a battery. Also the person being executed can communicate this with his team which either gives them a free shot on you if they get to you in time which can be a free kill for the other team, or they don't have to worry about an extra enemy while they continue fighting. More often than not you should be helping your team fight OR using that shield battery and moving into a better position because it cuts down on the time spent out of the fight.
I don't think I like the idea of increased reload speed. While the backpack is kinda sorta the same thing for healing, it's also not when you're in the middle of a fight with someone. It feels like it would be a bit too much power. I agree that the execution feels pretty terrible and wouldn't mind seeing something else on it but I have no idea what it would be. Maybe the armor could be the faster healing and the backpack could get increased stack sizes by 1. So instead of 2 grenades you get 3, 80 ammo you get 100, etc.
@MossyShambler if you're not shield-celling in combat, then you're not fighting properly.
The gold backpack reduces a 3s cast time to 1.5s cast time, which means you can gain 50 shields back in a 3 second window which would typically be a point in which you can quickly nip in to reload in anyway.
Other gold items help you in combat too, so not sure why this would be a problem? Especially considering how rare the gold chestplate is anyway, surely it would be a sought after item if it actually gave you a bonus.
Also as for your first bit; your whole paragraph justifies why the gold chestplate sucks. You expose yourself, you take longer doing so, and your only benefit is to save a shield battery, which are infinity times more commonly found than the chest piece... so what's the point?
@Prupisek I'm not sure I follow your train of thought... a shield cell can be deployed in 1.5s, which can mean you can regenerate around 25-50hp before an enemy has reloaded with the Gold Backpack. You're not saying that's overpowered or making anyone a "defensive beast", but it's exactly the same as a reload use. Some scenarios won't require the player to reload during combat... much the same as some scenarios won't require the player to Shield Cell during combat.
It's basically the same thing. It isn't improving someone's aim with aim assist, it isn't increasing someone's damage, it isn't increasing movement speed in general and it isn't even making you heal faster... it's literally just making your weapon reload faster which would be on par with everything else I just mentioned (barrel mods, weapon mods, bangalor/bloodhound, gold backpack).
I said you should be using shields and stay mobile to stay relevant in the fight so I don't really understand your first sentence. The other 3 items don't really make you more powerful in the middle of a fight. The backpack is the closest thing by letting you heal faster, but its still not actually making your weapons any better. If you're in a tight space fighting with someone and dodging around very little cover or around a house, it can be pretty difficult to get a heal off even with the backpack, maybe a shield cell but you're still at a disadvantage if they happen to find you with a cell in hand. Reload speed directly powers you up and gives you a significant advantage over someone else because you're shooting more bullets than they can. If you choose not to heal in a fight for whatever reason then you're banking on being able to land your shots before they do. Reload speeds are also very low as it is, I just don't think increased reload speed is a good fit for the game. I'd really rather not come across someone with an R99 that can unload a mag every second, that gun is already powerful enough as it is.
@MossyShambler "It taking longer than a shield battery isn't really the problem, the problem is that you're removing yourself from the fight for a free recharge to preserve a battery. "
Me; "if you're not shield-celling in combat, then you're not fighting properly."
You shouldn't need to use a battery, because you should be using Shield Cells until the fight is over, since the majority of heal items take too long which can be the difference of you being rushed and killed while your meds are still deploying.
That same problem can be applied to assassinating someone. If you're in combat, you shouldn't be saying to your team, "hold up, I'm just going to take the next 6 seconds to assasinate someone to get my shields back for free", when there's obviously someone else still alive nearby that could kill you so easily while you're without shields. Literally a double tap with basically any weapon could kill you while you're doing your animation... so is it really worth exposing yourself, for a longer animation, to save an item that isn't really that relevant?
Shield Cells > Shield Battery. A Shield Battery might be able to fill your shields but it's a longer cast time and can more often than not mean the difference between you dying while trying for full shields, and surviving while Celling to get 25 armour back.
