I don’t understand the randomness in this map neither. Pick a theme and stick to it.
I am really enjoying this map. Since launch I’ve probably got about 15 hours on it. At first i hated the size of the map. But I’ve come to really appreciate it. And I’m sure others will too as soon as they get their head around the change. You can already see more fluency in the map to date as players learn the ground. Capitol City could actually be mean 5v5 squad location (or mini battle royale, just a thought?)
Most players I’ve heard from who are giving negative feedback are those that like the SMG third party option from Kings Canyon, and cant stand the fact that’s been taken away. Hate me for saying it all you like, but it’s true. The third party made it easier for you.
im an average player. I’m no god-tier gamer. But I feel the size of the map, plus the space been drop locations lends to styled and tactical gunfights between squads. 3rd partying is still an option. It just takes you more time to cover the ground, putting the 3rd party at a “disadvantage”.
loot distribution does need tending to though. Countless matches I’ve dropped into, searched 4-8 loot piles without a weapon or shield. At least up the drop of level ken shields lol
- @misterlex1k I have exactly the same. Feeling today. This map is horrible.
@tronic1987The size of the map isn't the problem. The fact that there are much empty spaces is. Apart from that a lot of 'dropareas' that are interesting are really close to eachother. Which results in 2 or 3 squads being in your range in no time.
I honestly haven't really experienced a lot of gunfights where we were just fighting one squad. 9 out of 10 times we were third partied, sometimes even fourth partied or were shot from long range with the charge rifle and the longbow. Because the fights take longer, because the distance is longer. Squads get a lot of time to locate the battle and join in. That's why it's sometimes a cluserfck and very hard to tell how many squads you are fighting at once. There is no real need to get sub machines until you are in very late game and even then you need to hope the last circle will be in a tight spot and not in a large open field.
The meta and map changed too much. As a season 1 and season 2 player myself I have the feeling that all my process of learning and understanding the game can be thrown into the garbagecan this season because it feels and plays like a total different game.
I could write a whole paragraph about the loot atm but since a lot of you have already covered it I'll leave it be. Or shall I add a little bit that I usually start my games with six different types of optics. A stack of energy ammo and a lvl 1 helmet before running trough 3 other buildings before finding lvl 1 armor and a mozambique. Thanks...the new map, for what it is, is nice. the new lower single story buildings (like the ones around geyser) are nice and have a good flow to them. they provide some cover and are fun to fight in. perhaps the bathroom doors in some of the buildings could be a bit bigger so people can jump out and not get gassed to death by a caustic with no hope of escape (saw it on reddit).
the peaked roofs on WE are slightly harder to jump over but they provide far better cover than the peaked roofs in KC imo. ive had a few very fun fights in capital city, the city as a whole has an interesting flow to it but the fights were fun. particularly the ones that involved more than 1 squad. i haven't had many close quarters fights in any of the construction sites or larger buildings but running through them, it looks like it could be fun and interesting.
the train yard is probably my favorite so far, it feels the most like apex. cover, walls to jump over, nice sight lines, high ground. its enjoyable. refinery has been nice but i tend to have a hard time getting to land there.
the epicenter and thermal station, the towers are cool. they give a good vantage point to snipe from and a good spot to perch up as crypto to scout the area and snipe/support from. between the 2 id favor epicenter over thermal. the terrain makes for better fights imo.
the loot spread on WE inside of POIs isn't bad after the drop getting a gun and ammo isn't hard even tho it feels like ive been picking up a lot of 2020s recently getting a better gun doesn't take long. outside of POIs loot bins seem to be sparse and i thought i'd be learning their locations and finding more of them, i haven't. i'm not sure if its because they aren't there or i'm just putting in less hours since KC isn't available.
that being said, please give me to choice to play on KC. given the choice i would not queue for WE. the map as a whole is far to large and i am frequently reminded of pubg, without the cars. there are aspects of this map i would like to see on KC, like some of the buildings, some better terrain or lava as a hazard to navigate around. with more high ground and better terrain i do find myself looking up and around more on WE. the loot spots on this map aren't bad, they're just too far apart. most of the fights i have been in have been a blind ambush or a 1 v 1 that probably was a chore to get to.
aside from the intense close quarters combat everyone loves in apex, my most fun fights in apex have been mid range sniping matches, which on KC wasn't hard to get. on WE with the low muzzle velocity and extreme bullet drop of snipers, shooting at 300+m is a pain and not fun to do regularly. i feel like when this map was made, it was made for top tier streamers to play on, the people who can hit their shots and barely ever miss and mechanically are very good at fps games. the cover as a whole is minimal and difficult to get to if you are running between POIs with only small spots of scattered high ground. regardless of actual distance, it feels like these POIs are incredibly far apart.
personally i would like the option to play KC again or i would like a 3rd map to come out. playing on WE doesn't really feel like the type of apex i enjoy, aside from the occasional night i'd like to run around and snipe(the LTM shotty/snipers would be cool here) i would tend to shy away from wanting to play on WE
- @NinhNL I get what you’re saying. But that’s what the devs wanted l. They stated exactly that. That they wanted to create longer range battles.
If you can’t finish the fight maybe you’d should think about the way you are approaching your rotations and approaching your gunfights in the first place. Good players will adapt to individual fights. I for one will always call a withdrawal from a gunfight if it’s clear it’s going on too long and there’s a chance for third party involvement.
If you’re not acknowledging that fact, then that’s poor plays on your own part, not Respawn for developing a map.
The loot will probably be addressed eventually. The new map is hands down better than King’s Canyon. Many more diverse environments, map positioning and the ring itself actually mean something now, the train, it’s just better. King’s Canyon was a good map. This new one is better. 3rd partying still exists, but it’s not the impact meta it was. Sniper rifles are of higher value now. I like it better. It looks and feels better. I think they did a great job creating this map.
Why has no one mentioned how the cities feel like a tilted tower rip off and even then you have these massive sky scrapers which you can only loot the first 2 floors of and be lucky to find level 1 armour and a peace keeper, also don't know why but I haven't seen an alternator very often, guessing the spawn rate of them was decreased and the spawn rate of p2020s increased.
- @EA_Blueberry Usually, if you have a good squad they will loot in a tight formation.
But sometimes people will stray while looting and get killed. - EA_Blueberry6 years ago

Does anyone else feel stressed out when you zip up the structure and jump off into one of the floors only to hear footsteps happening all around you? On top of that, zip-line sounds...."where are they coming from?!?" 😛
