Promote Discord for Solo Queue Players

I took some time to visit the Apex Discord Server and its actually a great solution for solo queue players to use.

Each time players log into Apex there should be a Discord screen on the "News Tab" encouraging players, especially solo queue players, to join the Discord server.

For example:

Need a Squad to battle with in the Outlands join our Apex Legends Discord Server!!!

There could be a "info link" and "Inbox" message stating all the benefits of joining the Discord server, especially for players like me who are ignorant to 3rd party services.

Discord is available across all platforms (I'm not sure about Nintendo). There should be constant marketing campaigns between Apex and Discord across the board; in-game, forums, LAN events, etc.

Well maybe it's time for an official server from this dev team. Recently on Apex Reddit the dev team created a topic to encourage players to link up:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/1uy8l8w/find_your_perfect_squadmate_matchmaking/

I think the community would be better served if the devs just partner with the services that are available. Currently, the only cross-platform service is Discord.

We all know that Apex has a solo queue problem. Most players believe the solo queue problem is a matchmaking problem, and it isn't.

Matchmaking systems will never be able to bring like-minded players together, it's nearly impossible. Matchmaking systems can only bring players together who are initiating matches at the same time and try to link players together using a specific measurement. For example, a players rank.

The longer the wait time the easier the system can find three D1 players. The shorter the wait time the harder the system will be able to find the same tier players, which results in the D1 player being matched with lower tier players. Even if the system compiles three D1 players together it doesn't mean those players will be like-minded.

The devs keep stirring the same matchmaking pot and then asking "Does it taste different?". The answer is No! It tastes the same. They need to season the pot with ingredients to assist matchmaking. After 7.5 years this reality isn't being accepted. I've always advocated for more social networking tools in-game. Although, after fully utilizing Discord and recognizing its potential to alleviate the solo queue problem, in some capacity, I'm fully on-board with strong integration into Apex overall.

eldercitizen I was meaning that games typically have an official Discord Server that is ran by the game's own development team, (which makes it easier to integrate Discord into the game).

However, there is no doubt that Discord has its uses regardless if the Discord server is official or not.

I just finished a 5 hour session with 2 players I met on Discord.

I've had two Discord accounts for years but never gave it a chance. I noticed a message on my PS5 about the service and finally tried it out. It would be nice to have some messaging in-game, in some capacity.

I feel stupid that I waited so long to use it. 🤦‍♂️ Being stubborn has its consequences. 🤷‍♂️

    Now I know better. 😁
