It is almost as if you're rewarded for creating smurf accounts in this game.
A smurf account is held back from harder lobbies until certain rank. Then EOMM will kick in afterwards and mix with all sorts. Saw rank 12 get 4K 20 bomb whilst spectating. Definitely not a one week player then. He will probably create another account to reset himself. Maybe that is the way EA want people to play going forward even if it means:
Just means going through 15 min tutorial and stuck with first Legends from Season 1. Guessing maining Lifeline isn't a bad thing.
Cosmetics lost when creating new account.
EA does allow multiple accounts, but not if a person is doing so to bypass a ban.
- r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace@PeterN_UK im not really angry bcs of smurfs ect.
Im angry bcs i keep getting lied to !
Phony excuses/explainations that dont add up, thats what we get - XHelperZ2 years agoHero+
Matchmaking isn't something that's fixed in a single update, it will become better over time.
- r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace@XHelperZ its not that the issue is occuring since yesterday ... i dont think it take 3 years to come up with a new one.
- XHelperZ2 years agoHero+
Well making a new matchmaking system isn't as simple as just suggesting a different way to do something.
Prototypes have to made and they have to be tested, next to that a lot of data has to be collected to check if it's going the correct direction.
Currently matchmaking might become worse for a lot of users than before they announced they were working on it due to a lot of prototypes that are probably being introduced.
I think it's safe to assume they're actually taking a proper stance and that they are actually going to try to fix the issue, otherwise they wouldn't put out such a blog post.
- NickBeam272 years agoSeasoned Ace@XHelperZ As long as there are a ridiculous amount of hackers and Respawn allows smurfing in ranked, the MM will never be able to do what it is intended. How can it possibly? Do the math on it. The smurf accounts destroy the MM's intentions. Utter garbage to allow smurf accounts in a ranked system.

I played ranked last night. I am in gold 4. Saw a level 35, killed me early....spectated till the end. Watch him decimate the entire lobby. finished with 22 kills and over 5000 damage. IN A GOLD 4 LOBBY!
So while this person was allow by Respawn to smurf "for the grind" - almost the entire lobby lost RP and got their as*ses handed to them so this smurf could have fun destroying us all and forcing us all down so he could enjoy the grind for the "blank" time?
What is that?

@XHelperZthat blog post is a phony lie, i get paired up with literally noobs against master players , no bucket fairytale can explain that, only those other variables do ... means its rigged : "since we also need to consider queue times and other variables outside of skill rating.".
Its not that hard to determine a skillvalue and pair up somewhat suitable matches, other multiplayer games do that since ages in a successful way. Only if you want to steer certain elements or outcomes then it gets messy and thats whats happening. Do you think they would have come forward if there wasnt a group of dataminers proving Respawns past statements false. Its pure damage control. - XHelperZ2 years agoHero+
The blog post is meant to inform, like mentioned previously, it's not an instant update.
This is something they're still working on, so I don't see why you think this is a lie.
In a response to these weird matchups they've released a statement that such behaviour was normal in a certain time period due to them testing something in relation with the matchmaking. What we're currently seeing could be an extension of that or another prototype they're testing.
Don't see how it's rigged.
I've had quite the experience with Overwatch a long time back, players kept complaining it was rigged this and that.
Most of the times it was functioning more than fine, though seems like it sometimes operated outside the margin of error.
Now Apex is a really different game, so matchmaking systems cannot be detected.
From my perspective the matchmaking system in used right as of now seems to be quite outdated, though it's far from "rigging" matches.
If they're rigging the matchmaking then matchmaking in a lot of cases would've shown to be quite normal, yet it looks outdated.
Just because they're behind and it isn't functioning properly doesn't mean it's rigged, this isn't intentionally bad.

@XHelperZits the same stuff like before the blog post, nothing has changed yet. im not the only one that gets paired up with 2 mates that can do literally no dmg, but are world class loot goblins ... against stacked teams. if i follow that blogpost even in the old system that should not be happening, except those "other variables" kick in ...
- XHelperZ2 years agoHero+
This would still take a long time before we would see results.
Blog posts are made to include the end-user in the process of fixing x issue, it's not really intended to serve as something like a patch note.
We still have the entire year to go, I personally believe it would be way too early to expect results.
- r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@XHelperZoh i would have results with one line of code
if(player.matchcount/10>mate.matchcount){ skip() }
Hell even 1% instead of 10% of my matches would make me a happy player Like what @XHelperZ is saying, Respawn is working on the matchmaking, but it takes time and a lot of effort. I've already noticed my matches changing where there's less diamonds and above, and its becoming a little bit more balanced, but its not quite there yet as recently I was put into a bot lobby after losing my first two matches of the day. (I've talked about that in the "Weird Matchmaking" thread).
- @PeterN_UK Im personally ready to just keep smurfing. Game is absolutely terrible in solo so i feel like its only fair to ruin other peoples experience.
That behavior will get you hardware banned for sure. The devs said that exactly this is what the illegal smurfing is in a tweet, i.e to create multiple account over and over to get into the "1-1.5 weeks" noob lobbies. So I would strongly advice against this. What its all about is that EVERYONE want to feel like the big man. Everyone wants to be able to get at least 1000+ dmg, 4-5 kills per game on an average. But if you think about it, this kind of matchmaking is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve. Even in theoretically perfectly "fair" matchmaking, you would only average 1 KD and 5% win rate. But even at this SBMM, people would still cry about "unfair matchmaking", even if its the pure definition of a fair matchmaking. I admit that playing 1 KD average matches is not that fun so I understand that people take the easy way out (instead of actually gridning until they are good enough to get better average KD). But if you are around 1 KD, then at least be smart enough to say what you really want: you want to be feel like a pro and therefore play in easy lobbies =)
- HappyHourSumwur2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@NerfMyAimPlzI am solidly average with a KDR of around 1.0. In reality, it is probably closer to 0.85 since I rage quit to lobby a bunch, especially when the matchmaking is on a tear.
My unfair matchmaking complaint is about the quality of my losses and the relative skill of both my teammates and opponents. I go 10 games or so with teammates worse than me and getting absolutely obliterated in embarrassing fashion almost every time. I'll go 5-6 games without a kill, too. Then the EOMM will send me my morphine drip game & I'll "pop off" for 5-6 kills and about 1,500 damage. I'm just barely holding off from uninstalling . . . but just barely.
I am obviously not good enough to carry anyone and yet this game seems to think I am.
All of that combined is what makes the player experience absolutely horrible about 1/3rd of the time.
If they don't fix matchmaking in S16, none of the other crap they are adding or changing will make any difference. It will still be the same old Apex matchmaking BS. - @XHelperZ It can be fixed very easily, remove sbmm. Random matchmaking that only prioritizes getting you the lowest ping would be perfect
- @HappyHourSumwur Quitting after you get damaged still counts as a death. It either gives the person that damaged you a kill or if your dead it goes to no one. So your certainly a 1kd
- r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace
S16 active and MM is still rigged
- r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace
its even worse than before.
now instead of 70% , now 100% of the mates are newbs.
And the "best" thing is, it even takes more time queueing with a way worse result, great job ... just a great job.
This is simply not playable anymore, thanks a lot !
Too many secret variables for it not to be rigged.
A Prestige LvL 400 with >30K Kills surely doesnt want to waste his time with Lvl 20 3Kill Mates (nor should he even match up with those !),but smb seems to be too proud to admit that the MM code is utter garbage.
Respawn you gamble away the trust people had in your company ! - NickBeam272 years agoSeasoned Acehttp://web.cs.ucla.edu/~yzsun/papers/WWW17Chen_EOMM
Naebex - this is just for you homie! You will not enjoy this. But you will understand it more and be just slightly more disappointed than you already are. Read at your own risk lol. - r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@NickBeam27i know the paper, i also have seen the phony tweets respawn made back when it came up around 2-3 years ago where they said : "no we dont EOMM" only to admit it in the very next sentence ... what they really said is : "We didnt use that patent", not that they dont use a similar technique.
Then the dataminers took on the challenge and kinda force the hand of Respawn to release another phony statement about the MM (the infamous contradicting Blogpost).
Seems to me they all act like career politicians , that cheat an lie they way to the top.
My Grandma once told me about Occams razor, and if i follow it i have to say : if it feels rigged its most likely rigged ! - NickBeam272 years agoSeasoned Ace

Still nothing changed , the rigged bullcrap still in place ... how can we belive anything respawn says ?
Don't know when its going to get better, but I hope it happens soon. Here we got a smurphing Loba, a somewhat adverage Wrath who appeared to be hacking, (I say "appears to be", because I was able to get away, but when going to grab my teammate's banners, I saw the Wraith do a quick 180 and I got beamed. Me running back for the box could be heard as well, (I flew briefly as Valk), so its not like they just snapped in my direction), and lastly, we got a masters Valkyrie playing in gold lobbies.
From my perspective the below image suggests that we got a masters player boosting / helping the average Wraith, who may or may not be cheating, along side a smurph console account, who's either being boosted by the other two or just along for the ride. No idea why someone would smurph on console to be honest. I'm mainly guessing its that "one friend" who randomly decided to get back into Apex.
Eitherway, the Valkyrie shouldn't be in a gold match, the Loba shouldn't even be allowed in the match either, while the Wraith, (assuming they're not cheating), is the only one who should be in gold, if not in plat. No idea why the system allows nor caters to these kinds of players.
