Upcoming Ranked Changes
I was really excited about the upcoming Ranked changes. I've been waiting all year since the Roadmap was released. Unfortunately, I'm a little disappointed.
Honestly, I thought you all were going to bring back DZO for all ranks. I was hoping that Ranked would be competitive throughout all ranks. Unfortunately, the direction you all are taking is to allow ranks below Diamond to be a elim fest. Elims will have higher priority in the ranking system. Squads will share elims, no matter which squad mate got the elim. Which means that players can possibly be carried by their more aggressive squad mate(s). The DSO format will continue to encourage hot drops, especially since elims have higher priority. It seems as if Skull Town and Thunderdome might be reintroduced to King's Canyon, along with other possible hot drop POIs.
IMO, Ranked below Diamond caters to aggressive players and aggressive play styles. Which ignores the play styles, entirely, for casual players who enjoy playing in a more competitive, ALGS inspired, environment. Basically, if a casual player isn't skilled enough in the game they will be forced to play a certain way, aggressively. Personally, I just think it's unfair. Just because a casual player isn't highly gifted at playing Apex doesn't mean they should be gatekept from playing in a more competitive format. I hope you all develop in-game tourneys so that at least casual players can play in more competitive, controlled, environments; similar to Rocket League and Fortnite.
Since elims, in below Diamond ranks, will be more emphasized I personally believe that players will continue to gravitate to Legends that will give them the best results, Skirmisher/Hybrid Skirmisher Legends. As I mentioned above, I'm a little disappointed. It's still exciting to see that Ranked is evolving and maybe for the better. Only time will tell.
