Use Replicating Materials to "buy-back" Teammates

TL:DR: The Replicator should have a feature that includes "Replicate Teammate Banner" that allows squads to reclaim an expired Banner.

Explanation: It is extremely frustrating and disheartening not being able to recover a teammates banner. There are some situations where a teammates recovery is impossible due to where their dead body dropped. Regardless if you are the death-spectating or not, no one likes being on a "Squad" with 1 member short of 3.

I believe that having a feature on the Replicator that allows squads to use materials collected to essentially "buy-back" their teammate will not only remedy pre-described situation, but also create new gameplay situations with how teams effectively handle their materials.

I am very aware that the "perma-death" attribute of the game is what incentives players to not make decisions that are needlessly dangerous lest they are basically out the match permanently, unable to assist their team secure the win. Even if a recovery seems possible, the risk of retrieving a banner under heavy fire might be a challenge too great for teams to coordinate successfully. This is especially true for public matches with randoms where the default culture is to completely abandon downed teammates with fallback excuse being "it is too risky" which, as mentioned previously, is true sometimes.

When I envision this feature

  • The "Replicate Banner" option on the Replicator Menu would not be active for players to interact with until the banner is fully expired.
  • The banner would cost anywhere from 150mat to 250mat depending on how much the devs feel that "respawn" should cost.
  • If the devs feel like the replication should cost even more than the suggested values, then some sort of "banking" feature should be included towards the replicator purchase to incentivize teammates to coordinate their shared material pool.

  • @Schaapje1987 Game's intentions ≠ a fixed, unchangeable mechanic. There are ideas in this forum that defy the initial game's logic and were still widely accepted by the community. In my opinion, Valkyrie also doesn't fit into the game, but here we are.

There is also no risk/reward related thing, as risking your life grabbing a banner in time adds the additional risk of drawing attention due to a massive, audible drop-ship. Additionally, there's also a high risk that in the respawn area is no loot left, leaving your team mates basically bare bones. In other words, the only reward you get is when you actually manage to find loot for your team mates.

The buy-back idea also adds it's own drawbacks. Given that replicating a banner costs about 150 materials and you lose 2 team mates, that's 300 materials that you need to obtain. Which in itself is going to be a massive chore. Which is also a risk/reward kind of thing. That's in the best case scenario 12 material containers you have to find and open.

Point in case, there is little to no drawback to this idea, other than the convenience for less skilled players to be given a second chance.
  • So do I, not as a permanent feature, but as an optional one it could be great (for the incoming -?- custom modes?).
It would add different challenge. I see well having to go and collect material for replicator, while being short, and while these are usually disputed areas. Predators (no, not these ones) would camp it like the rivers in savanna😉

I agree that they should roll out this mode as a "Limited-Time Mode" liken they did when they included heat sheilds

What you said is right though; it will make players think more carefully about how to play around and manage areas with multiple material pods. A "shift in the focus and interests of players".
