Yeah honestly they should do away with this detach option. Or make it available only when we are X meters from the ground.

Dropping solo is how you advance through all ranks up to platinum and then it doesn’t matter because no one plays as a team anyway.
You can force drop if you want. You can’t stop people from running off then which is exactly what they will do. Besides how about when the drop leader is afk? That’s going to be awesome when you can’t detach.
