Am I crazy for muting my squads each match?

Outside of playing with friends, I’ve grown accustomed to muting my premade squads, especially for ranked.

It:

  1. Helps me better listen for footsteps from other teams
  2. I don’t need to listen to someone’s phone ringing, dog barking, or other various background noises
  3. Friends talking nonstop (second and third teammate)
  4. Avoids getting into meaningless arguments, such as:
    1. ”Why didn’t you rez me bro?! You trash, clown, (insert whatever expletive)!!”
    2. Tries to sound intimidating over a console or PC and calling you a p——
    3.  Spam pings or yells so loud over their mix you can smell their breath because you didn’t want to land in an area with 3+ squads all firing on each other, rendering you unable to even find a weapon

I only ask because my friends I do play with think I’m crazy for doing that. In actuality, I play better solo queuing than with my friends because I’m not used to having to talk AND listen for other teams (I often play by myself).

    @AreYouShivering Wait. You jump solo when playing with randoms? You do realize you can activate the "No Fill" option and just play solo right? Honestly, why spoil the game for people that jump into it looking for the SQUAD gameplay experience. If you wanna play solo then play solo and stop ruining the game for other people. You are what's wrong with the game fella

    That would be a reasonable take if,

    1) Randoms didn't assume you were there for their enjoyment of the game only.
    2) Randoms didn't push 1 v 3 or even 1 v 6 and then berate you for not saving them from their own lack of tactics or planning.
    3) Randoms didn't insist on hitting a high volume area, and then leave you with no guns while they go back to step 2.

    So, yeah, no, if they are going to an area just to die then I am under no obligation to follow them.

  • @Kyldenar I had a squad once do that where I landed opposite side of the map from them because they landed in a multi squad area with little path to success.

    I can’t remember if I brought one of them back or if that one survived, but the third player died. Either way, the second guy came up to me after rejoining me and proceeded to just fire his wingman at me for the last 5 minutes or so until we both were downed. All because I wouldn’t land with him and his buddy in a certain-immediate-death situation.

    @Kyldenar High risk high reward.

    Going into battle while 1 of your teammates is on the otherside of the map looting safely is a lot more annoying than everything you described. If you can't win a battle with a full squad, what are you gonnna do solo against 3?

     I personally HATE games where we run the whole map and only see an enemy when we hit final 3 squads. I would much rather finsih 10th with 5 kills than 1st with 1.

    Honestly. It's a BR game. Where's the fun in hiding? I've had 20 kills twice in the game. Both times came from hot drops. First ring closes on 10 kills. And the funny thing is, both my 20 kill games I didn't win. We cam 2nd and 4th.

    Winning is great, but PLAYING is better. Stop being afraid of the game.

    @i-NormFrom you on another post:

    "I don't get this obsession people have with aim assist. I always check to see if mine is on because my aim is terrible anyway! Yes its on, then why doesn't it work fo me lol"

    Seems you cant aim at all and yet smug bout your 20 kills on 2 matches like a pro. I smell a plain lie or a player being carried by someone. People play the way they want to and you are a nobody believing to be better than others.

    Truth hurts i know.

    @DeepBeats So? I was making a point about aim assist not helping me. I miss way more shots than I hit but that doesn't mean I haven't got kills and wins. I've lost way more games than I've won. I've had so many games with ZERO kills. Plenty actually. What does that have to do with anything? Saying all that though, Ive won hundreds of games. Evne with my losing all my progression and being reset to zero, I have a win rate of over 6%, not 60%. I have a KD of 1.4 not 4.4. I'm not trying to pretend in anyway that I'm a great Apex player but again that doesn't mean I lied. My highest kill count is 22. My secon is 20. My 3rd is 16. All in all I have had 10+ kills maybe a dozen or so times.

    Again. What does that have to do with aim assist??

    It seems to me I hurt your feelings in someway though and I suppose I should apologize before this escalates. And yes. People play the way they want. You are right. And again I'll ask the original question I asked. If you have no interest in playing with a squad, why don't you activate the NO FILL option in the loby and just jump solo? Why spoil squads if you have no interest in playing squads?

  • @i-Norm Because I can easily find two loot boxes left by my teammates. And sometimes teammates random bots swerve in the air and land with me anyway - then I have two additional shields, distraction points.

    Well, then good news, there is a mode for you, it's called DEATHMATCH and it's over there where your style of play won't mess with those actually trying to play a Battle Royal where the point is to be the last team alive.
