Apex legends input lag issues

Description of the issue:
Instability of mouse input processing or frametime spikes NOT VISIBLE ON FRAMETIME GRAPHS caused by mouse interrupts. This leads to a choppiness when panning and tracking enemies.

(main rig) Amd ryzen 7 5800x 3060ti, 3600mhz cl16 16gb

Things i've tried >

stock and tweaked windows 20h2
stock and tweaked windows 21h2
stock and tweaked windows 7 sp1
125hz, 500hz, 1000hz polling
different usb ports (usb 2, usb 3, front panel)
all devices unplugged except mouse
different mouse, different keyboard, different mousepad
Rtss capping, 144fps.
r5apex low priority, high priority
mouse interrupt cpu affinity
different nvidia drivers
cpu underclock
cpu overclock
cpu stock (stock bios)/ tweaked bios, c states disabled, any power saving feature disabled
hyperthreading on, off
different monitor
moved my pc to a different house

-no-browser in steam properties, disabled any game overlay, disabled fso

tighter timings using dram calculator, 3hour stress test, stable

disabled gamebar in windows settings and regedit

gamemode on/off

msi mode for gpu

power saving features disabled on my ethernet adapter

ultimate performance powerplan, disabled usb powersaving and pcie power saving

1600dpi/800dpi/400dpi, overdrive to strong, medium, weak. no improvements

enabled hags/disabled hags

using islc, forcing timer to 0.499

Since I've tried pretty much everything I suspect it's just due to a bug in the game engine similarly to how the frame pacing in this game breaks when its running at 200+ FPS, but then again how isn't this on the front page of r/apexlegends?
I've wasted lots of hours trying to fix this and would appreciate if any apex players on this forum could try this out so I know if its just the engine being bad or something wrong with my setup.

    ITS NOT YOUR COMPUTERS FAULT!!

Ignore the people that are claiming that this is your fault! Or that u should change ur polling rate, which is bullsh*t! Its only ur fault if its happening on *ALL* games u play, but if it is apex only then definitely their fault.

    Edit: 2024

  • @dynam1ck I now have the feeling that this is done on purpose to encourage gamers to buy new gaming equipment.

Just like many people supposedly don't see the difference between 144fps and 240fps.

@platoonMnK_TTV It actually played fine on my ps4 back then, or perhaps I wasn't sensitive enough lol. Or because we all played on 60hz monitors which already comes with a bigger delay then higher hertz monitors.

@platoonMnK_TTV What u can try is, what made it a bit smoother for me is uncapping ur fps and push as much frames so that u compensate it. We actually dont need to cap fps if reflex is enabled anyway
  • @dynam1ck You talking about that brief pause? Servers prob, or internet, but if it's not occurring in other games then it's Apex's servers prob is my guess. I'm talking general lag tho, as in affected reaction time and so on..I feel that more than anything else.

Definitely servers, cuz sometimes my games feels way better, especially at times where people dont play alot. During the night or early morning's

  • Input lag definitely bites hard on this game at times & can make the game feel clumsy & unresponsive particularly when opening loot chests or just picking loot from the ground when you have the loot goblins breathing down your neck (teammates or enemies) & when enemies are firing at you when all you are trying to do is pick up that critical loot up before running for cover. And I agree it also plays around with shot accuracy when you are certainly hitting targets but little to no hit reg is the result.I also find when I'm in the midst of receiving bullet damage whilst running for clear cover seconds later whilst in cover I'm still getting damaged.Input lag also heavily disrupts the game when in a hot spot or busy area when there are a fair amount of players on the screen. The main culprit for the input lag are the low tick 20hz servers which are among the lowest rated servers used among the majority of online multiplayer games play on. I would also lay a portion of the blame on the game engine Apex runs on the Unreal 4 engine which is well over a decade old where Apex just feels like it's buckling at the seams.Despite this fact that Respawn have stated that there is no plan for the foreseeable to upgrade to a newer engine as they continue to work with the Unreal 4 engine among the different studios even though a lot of other multiplayers have moved onto Unreal 5.I'd also lay a portion of the blame with the whole discrepancy over frame rates where PC players can enjoy 120fps/hz a mere double that is available to us (next) console players still on a lowly 60fps/hz (Switch players still on 30fps/hz) that despite there currently being a performance issue in the game for console players that has been in the game a while now where the are significant frame rate drops throughout that can drop to as low as 30fps/hz.

@Redmattgame Not only that. When tracking it feels way to heavy, movement feels off. I'm playing right now and its soooooo *. And when i switch to a different game its soo much better then this piece of * game. Everything feels smoother/faster. There are times where this game feels smooth but that only happens during the night when not much players are playing, thats when things gets better, or the early mornings. These devs are the worst i've ever witnessed in my entire life. They prioritize skins above critical issues
